The CIA I, II, serves as an analyst for the Hoag EHR. The CIA I, IIparticipates in implementation and maintenance of clinical technology and projects within their assigned area and in partnership with other CI team members and clinicians. The position requires prior ability to provide competent EHR related training and or EHR activation support, and group facilitation skills.

Clinical Informatics Analyst I (CIA I)

The CIA I serves as an analyst for the Hoag EHR. The CIA I participates in implementation and maintenance of clinical technology and projects within their assigned area and in partnership with other CI team members and clinicians. The position requires prior ability to provide competent training and group facilitation skills.

The CIA I works under the direction of CI management to support various clinicians using Hoag established workflow and training methodologies and approaches.

The CIA I participates in workflow development, supports Electronic Health Record (EHR) competency validation to Hoag clinicians in their use of clinical technology

Specific Skills of the CIA I include:

Competency in group facilitation skills in working with people, resources, and time to meet organizational and departmental goals and to meet budget.

Develops workflow remediation and designs targeted training as necessary and evaluates effectiveness of interventions.

Develops communication regarding clinical technology changes, upgrades, and downtimes to clinical customers.

Participates in initiatives that include Medical, Nursing and Interdisciplinary operations to facilitate workflow analysis determining the expectations and gaps and develops skills in being able to create training tools that support change.

Makes recommendations to their CI leader on procedures and innovation solutions to improve efficient, reliable use of the clinical information systems.

Tests, trains, and implements improvements to existing clinical information systems.

Participates in the review of the content of knowledge-based tools and supports the use of appropriate methodologies so they are followed and sustained.

Participates in local implementation of clinical information systems installation and upgrades.

Develops skills to effectively deliver training which enables the successful adoption of clinical information systems into the patient care process.

Maintains current training materials and updates as enhanced training materials are needed

Supports change/transformation initiatives by assisting customers with the dynamic nature of clinical information systems.

Resolves simple to medium customer issues.

The CIA I is expected to complete Certified Training modules for the EHR within 6 months of assuming the position

Performs other duties as assigned.

Clinical Informatics Analyst II (CIA II) In addition to the above, the CIA II:

Serves as a coach to other non-clinical informatics and business analysts. The position requires proficient group facilitation and training skills.

Supports various IT and Operational Teams in the use of standard processes, and services (e.g. training tools and workflow design) related to the provision of training methodologies and approaches for designated end-user clinical applications and facilitates technical support when indicated. This resource actively works under the direction of Clinical and IT leaders to drive high quality patient care through the use of technology, while balancing ease of use and adoption of assigned clinical applications including the Hoag EHR.

Supports local clinical governance processes.

Resolves medium to complex customer issues.

Provides one-on-one at the elbow support for members of the clinical team in gaining and maintaining competency in use of clinical information and communication systems.

Provides support for CI analyst team members and to members of the organizational clinical informatics team in gaining and maintaining competency in use of clinical information and communication systems.

Supports ITIL/ISO aligned standard products, workflows, methodologies and services to support Information Life Cycle Management (ILM) and IT governance best-practices.

Demonstrates effective interactions and positive interpersonal skills in dealing with others in order to maximize productivity and positive employee relations.

Participates in activities facilitated by key informatics leaders and local or enterprise subject matter experts in relevant programs and services designing efficient integration of technology into patient care processes.

Monitors customer satisfaction with the use of clinical information systems, and delivers and measures interventions.

Stays current with regulatory standards, management and healthcare issues and trends, and legal implications.

Education, Training and Experience

Required:

Clinical Informatics Analyst I (CIA I)
2-3+ years clinical training and or non-licensed clinical experience

Bachelors or Analyst Degree in a Computer Science or related field (e.g., Communication, Education, Business) or Clinical field with proven knowledge and experience with computer applications/systems utilized in a healthcare organization
1-2+ years experience designing and facilitating training programs including developing training content

Previous experience with information systems

Minimum 1 years experience in clinical information systems implementation and support or as a department subject matter expert including end user support.

Clinical Informatics Analyst II (CIA II) In addition to the above the CIA II will have the following:
4-6+ years experience supporting clinical training and or non-licensed clinical experience
3+ years experience designing and facilitating training programs including developing training content

Previous Experience with EHR such as Epic including Certified Training

Minimum 2 years experience in clinical information systems implementation and support or as a department subject matter expert including end user support.

Skills or Other Qualifications

Required:

Excellent communication skills; customer focused; excellent attention to detail; able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; strong interpersonal skills; able to work in a team environment

Knowledge of adult learning, instructional design, and curriculum development

Able to develop training curriculum with minimal direct supervision

Able to design and deliver training programs for the clinical community

Advanced computer and training skills

Current CA drivers license required for local travel

Preferred:

Able to develop training curriculum with minimal direct supervision

Ability to operate a variety of computer software and audio/visual equipment
