JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinical Head Nurse

  • RN is responsible for assisting in supervising nursing staff; for providing leadership and orientation to nursing personnel; and for performing a variety of nursing duties in order to coordinate the delivery of care to patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse

  • RN by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners required.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
2 years of related work experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Able to sit occasionally; stand constantly; walk frequently.

Able to lift/carry 0-10 lbs frequently; 11-50 lbs occasionally.

Able to push/pull 0-20 lbs frequently; 21-75 lbs occasionally.

Able to climb occasionally; reach constantly.

Able to use hand for simple/firm grasping.

Care is provided for the adult and geriatric populations requiring closer observation and interventions than provided on the general medical-surgical units.Patients requiring 23 hour observation with telemetry monitoring are also accommodated.Pediatric patients 15 years of age and older that require telemetry monitoring are cared for in collaboration with the pediatrician and pediatric nursing staff. An interdisciplinary care team consisting of social services, nursing, physicians, PT/OT, nutritionist, case management and others, collaborate to meet the needs of the patient during their acute care stay and to identify and plan for all aspects of care needs across the continuum.Diagnosis related groups for Progressive Care are predominantly cardiovascular but also include the use of IV antidysrhythmic agents, care of the post-vascular patient, peripheral Thrombolytic therapy, respiratory failure and associated therapies, renal failure and patient with other compromised conditions. Staffing is based on skill mix, competency of staff, unit census, technology being used, and patient complexity and acuity. JOB SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse - RN incorporates knowledge of the nursing process and the professional standards of nursing in daily practice. Applies knowledge of growth and development to perform detailed assignments/interventions. Provides consistent care based on the changing physical and psychosocial needs, unique to the patient. Education: * Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Experience: * Recent RN Registered Nurse experience within last 18 months. * Minimum 1 year med/surg or cardiac RN experience preferred. License/Certification: * Active Registered Nurse - RN license in the state. * BLS required. * ACLS required on telemetry units within 12 months.
