Providence is calling a Clinical Equipment Technician (Intensive Care Unit, Day Shift, 0.6 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:

  • Maintain and clean department equipment used for care. Send soiled equipment for sterile processing

  • Maintain and clean equipment. Maintain and clean work areas

  • Identify and maintain adequate par levels for stock supplied through unit

  • Prepare patient room for procedures and admissions. Stock rooms and order supplies. Arrange environmental maintenance and repairs as needed. Restock specialty carts and trays as needed. Stock carts in patient rooms daily

  • Perform assessment and testing procedures on equipment and other support systems. Perform routine maintenance checks as appropriate. Perform scheduled checks on eyewash stations and refrigerator temperatures

  • Notify Biomedical Department of scheduled preventative and corrective maintenance checks when equipment is available. Initiate, monitor and follow-up on work orders for malfunctioning equipment. Keep supervisor informed of status of equipment not in working order

  • Maintain department supply inventories. Place supply orders and check status of outstanding orders to ensure unit supplies are available in an efficient and cost effective manner. Rotate inventory supplies based upon expiration dates and lot numbers

  • Label instruments and maintain inventory log of instruments/equipment on unit as appropriate

  • Communicate with the Purchasing and Biomed department for work and stock orders, both routine and special order items

  • Assist staff with the acquisition of equipment in emergent situations

  • Perform charges and billing as appropriate. Monitor charges for specific equipment use

  • Support the smooth operation of the department by assisting in support activities such as answering department telephone and assisting staff

  • Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served

  • Perform deep cleaning of specified equipment as needed (i.e. stretchers, carts, other equipment)

  • Complete Competency Plan for assigned job and department

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Experience with supply stocking, ordering, equipment cleaning, and basic equipment maintenance

  • Mechanical aptitude

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Computer skills

In this position you will: * Scan all appropriate documents into the electronic medical record within 12 hours of receipt. * Follow defined process to ensure paper medical records are routed correctly to HIM to be scanned into the electronic medical record. * Assist providers with computerized provider order management (CPOM) and other aspects of the electronic medical record (EMR). * Perform charge reconciliation (i.e. correct room charge for patient accommodation). * Monitor orders entered electronically to help communicate orders to the correct departments as needed (i.e. echo, EKG, etc.).
