Position: Clinical Engineering Intern

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of Senior Imaging Technicians or BMET's as assigned, assists with preventive maintenance on equipment; transports portable equipment; assists with installation, repair, and removal of a variety of equipment, participate in projects, works under the direction of the BMET Supervisor.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with inspections and preventive maintenance commensurate with training on a variety of electronic and electromechanical equipment.

  • Uses common hand tools as required in the performance of job tasks. Operates test equipment commensurate with training, such as VOM meters, safety analyzers, ESU analyzers and physiological input simulators.

  • Assists in all aspects of equipment installation, inspection, and removal.

  • Participate in meeting regarding equipment projects. Research background information on equipment using provided resources.

  • Assists with minor repairs on a variety of equipment.

  • Read equipment service manuals to learn about the operation of equipment.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned by other operational reasons for which the employee is qualified to perform.

  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Requires ability to use hand tools to perform mechanical repairs and basic knowledge of electricity and plumbing. Knowledge of electronics is required. Must be able to read, write and perform mathematical calculations.

  • Requires the ability lift 40 lbs to chest height unassisted and 60 lbs assisted, must be able to work from a ladder to a height of 12 feet, and work on equipment at any level.

  • Must be able to read and write English and communicate effectively with hospital staff, vendors, manufacturers and corporate staff.
