Clinical Educator

Clinical Nurse Educators (CNE) combine clinical expertise and a passion for teaching in the clinical and classroom setting. CNEs design, implement, evaluate and revise in-services, continuing education, and orientation programs as they pertain to the nursing department. CNEs serve as role models and mentors to clinical staff, providing leadership and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the Cancer Institute at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center the Nurse Educator performs didactic teaching, case base learning, facilitation of computer based programs and clinical management.

  • Evaluates and coaches new employees with interdisciplinary collaboration integral to the role.

  • Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing professional development practice.

  • Acquires and maintains current knowledge and competency in nursing professional development practice.

  • Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in planning, delivering and managing nursing professional development activities.

Requirements:

  • Current NY State license as a Registered Nurse

  • BSN required

  • Masters in Nursing or enrolled in Master's Program

  • Minimum 5 years current clinical nursing experience with demonstrated leadership and teaching ability.

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles

  • Must be flexible with time assignment to accommodate the needs of the department

  • Current ACLS Instructor and BLS Instructor preferred.

  • Must have knowledge of Hospital policy and procedures.

  • Good communication and computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required. Must work well with all staff

St. Francis has regularly out-scored other hospitals on Long Island. Summary: The Registered Dietitian (RD) is part of the Food & Nutrition Services team. RDs are available to complete the nutrition care process and develop an individualized, patient-centered approach to nutrition care. The RD is responsible for assessing patients' nutritional status and intervening with appropriate medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and/or diet education to improve, maintain, or optimize nutrition status and document in the electronic medical record. The RD participates in interdisciplinary rounds and various committee meetings. The RD also aids in the orientation and training of new employees and participates in clinical education of dietetic interns from clinical affiliates. Qualifications/Experience: * Per Diem RD must be flexible with schedule and work assignments o Scheduled days may vary; Monday through Friday, weekends, holidays * A motivated individual who is pro-active * Strong interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, customer-service focused * Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics required * Must have completed a post graduate supervised, Commission on Dietetics Registration approved dietetic internship program and successfully passed the National Registration Examination for Dietitians to become a Registered Dietitian (RD). * Certification with New York State (CDN) is required within 1 year of start date. * Master's Degree and/or advanced certification in nutrition preferred * 2-3 years clinical experience preferred, although new RDs would be considered * Experience with EPIC/CBORD preferred St. Catherine Of Siena Smithtown NY
