The Clinical Education Specialist supports the Medtronic Neurovascular Medical Educational team with clinical education programs and professionals affairs aligned with business strategies. This includes, but is not limited to, supporting hands-on and observational courses, creation or modification of course content, and collaboration with physician faculty/key opinion leaders. Ensures all materials and activities meet all Corporate Compliance Guidelines, AdvaMed Guidelines, and applicable federal regulations.

A Day In the Life

  • Coordinate and manage a wide variety of medical education tasks including course content creation/modification and physician interactions

  • Supporting hands-on and observational courses, creation or modification of course content, and collaboration with physician faculty/key opinion leaders

  • Coordinate and manage a wide variety of medical education tasks including course content creation/modification, publications strategies, physician interactions and vehicle selection (i.e. CME, print, etc)

  • Assist in executing strategic plans and dissemination of clinical information for medical education initiatives

  • Supporting communications for Investigator Sponsored Research

  • Understand and ensure compliance with regulatory policies and procedures relating to education programs

  • Support clinical education programs and lead hands on training stations+ Support and attend scientific/society meetings

  • Identify and work with stakeholders in other departments (e.g. Clinical Affairs and Marketing) that objectives are met

  • Assist Neurovascular Education team as needed with paperwork and processes to fulfill compliance and committee requirements as it relates to educational program requirements (grants & donations)

  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Applying metrics to education activities to maintain procedural adoption

  • Pursue highest standards of support and service to exceed internal and external customer expectations

  • Travel to educational events and regional shows and exhibits as needed

  • Adhere to corporate compliance policy, AdvaMed Guidelines, and applicable federal regulations

Must Have; Minimum Requiriments

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in life sciences, biomedical engineering, and other clinical functions

  • 2+ years of relevant medical device sales, marketing, education or comparable work experience

  • Intermediate or advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and internet search engines

Nice To Have

  • Proven understanding of the medical device or pharmaceutical arena and healthcare system requirements

  • Candidates will have direct patient and hospital experience as nurse and tech in endovascular specialty

  • Previous in-hospital or specialty services (cath lab, OR) experience

  • Analytical skills and capability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex scientific information

  • Insight to determine sales and customer communication/education needs during product life cycle

  • Ability to work independently and effectively on cross-functional teams

VIEW JOBS 8/29/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-11-27T00:00 This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in the growth of new cutting edge heart valve therapies for Mitral & Tricuspid Valve Repair and Mitral Valve Replacement, across technologies like Cardioband, PASCAL and FORMA. As a Clinical Education Specialist within Transcatheter Mitral and Tricuspid Therapies (TMTT), you will work closely with Global KOLs and the Edwards Clinical Research Teams across several exciting therapeutic devices. You will have direct impact to procedural development of our technologies as we bring early-stage technologies through Clinical Trials and towards commercial markets. This role is a key clinical support role that will require learning current TMTT devices, providing procedural guidance to clinicians in the clinical study setting with good understanding of image-based navigation, supporting physician training for new and existing clinical trial sites, and providing input on evolving aspects of the product development process. Specific Responsibilities include: * Gaining expertise on TMTT Devices, understanding the device specifications and IFUs, and supporting device prep for clinical cases * Provide on-site, real-time guidance during clinical implants, including contingency planning to address unforeseen occurrences in support of assigned clinical investigations. * Educate on all aspects of the device, device handling, implantation and troubleshooting techniques related to equipment, tools and products required for device implants. * Document procedural case observations for learning and training updates * Help develop and continuously improve training curriculum, training materials and training tools, based on clinical trial experience. * Educate and train physicians, hospital personnel and hospital staff on technical matters related to investigational products and procedures through Structured Training Programs, On-site Training Updates and Refreshers, and Ad-hoc in-services at local centers and educational venues such as scientific conferences * Provide physicians and medical staff with required follow-up support to ensure continuity of education and technical support related to all aspects of device and procedural steps * Interface with investigational and clinical research staff to manage logistics associated with investigational meeting attendance, and protocol and device training. * Ensure device accountability by tracking the location of all clinical trial devices. * Help manage inventory to include par levels, expiration dates, and initiate shipments and returns of investigational products according to regulatory and company guidelines. * Collaborate with product development teams to provide feedback on device iterations and new device development #LI-PF1 #AS Education/Qualifications: * Education: College Degree or Certification in relevant field required, Bachelor's Degree Strongly Preferred, Master's Degree a Plus * Minimum of 4 years of relevant Industry Experience or Clinical Experience is required. Experience with Therapeutic Implantable Devices or Interventional/Surgical Clinical experience is preferred * Formal Education and Clinical Experience in one or more the following specialties is strongly preferred: Nursing (RN/BSN/MSN), Physician Assistant (PA-C), CV Sonography (RDCS/RDS), RCIS/CVT/RTR, Physician (MD) * Interventional Echo-navigation Imaging experience highly desired, particularly with 2D/3D TEE and CT-imaging for screening is valuable and strongly preferred. * Experience in Interventional Cardiology/Cardiac Cathlab is preferred, Cardiac Surgery experience is also valuable * Clinical engineering experience from industry-related positions that support clinical development and clinical case support may be considered * Strong knowledge in cardiovascular science and valvular heart disease processes * Experience working closely with Physicians in interventional and surgical environments and ability to communicate and demonstrate confidence in stressful procedural situation is a must General expectations: * Good presentation skills; ability to present material comfortably.
