Responsibilities

Pharmacists are responsible for the preparation, compounding and dispensing of medications according to the laws and regulations governing pharmacists and the practice of pharmacy. The Pharmacists are responsible for the optimization of drug therapy by identifying, resolving, and preventing drug-related problems and adverse drug events.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy and must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • 5 to 7 years of hospital pharmacy or retail pharmacy experience is required as well as a minimum of 4 years of oncology experience in a specialized area. Must be Board Certified in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP); an advanced degree related to the specialty practice area is preferred.

The team works collaboratively to lead the formulary (P&T) process, develop drug lists and clinical programs. The team then works with the operational areas, including the PBM, to ensure accurate and timely implementation and maintenance of our drug lists. Key responsibilities include serving as subject matter expert for Anthem’s formularies and utilization management edits. Support policies and procedures related to clinical pharmacy programs and implementation including, but not limited to, formulary maintenance, member notification requirements, utilization management, and Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P & T) Processes as well as to act as a clinical liaison between Anthem and its pharmacy benefit manager (PBM). Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: •Lead the commercial and Medicaid formulary management processes. •Responsible for all member, stakeholder and provider notifications regarding formulary changes. •Work directly with the PBM to ensure appropriate formulary set-up and claims adjudication. •Serve as a clinical pharmacy resource to pharmacy benefit management and pharmacy operations teams. •Ensures compliance of the commercial and Medicaid formularies with state/federal mandates and contractual agreements. •Collaborate with cross-functional teams for various project work. •Requires a registered pharmacist; •2 years or 4 years (Sr. level) of managed care pharmacy experience within a health plan or pharmacy benefits management company; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. •Formulary development/maintenance experience required. •Strong Excel skills •Current valid state license to practice pharmacy as an RPh required. •PharmD, residency and experience with Pharmacy and Therapeutics preferred. •Business planning, program and product development, project management, data analysis and clinical intervention design and implementation experience preferred. /*Anthem, Inc. is ranked as one of America’s Most Admired Companies among health insurers by Fortune magazine and is a 2017 DiversityInc magazine Top 50 Company for Diversity.
