The Iowa Veterans home is looking to add a Registered/Licensed Clinical Dietitian with the State of Iowa and Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR) to our team!

Duties will include:

  • Assessing the nutritional needs of the residents served and completing calculations for estimated nutritional needs

  • Recording in the resident's medical record, any observations, assessments and information pertinent to medical nutrition therapy, developing and evaluating regular and therapeutic diets, including texture of foods and liquids, to meet the specialized needs of residents

  • Developing person-centered nutrition care plans that consider the resident's desired outcomes and preferences.

The selected candidate will also be responsible for completing MDS data entry and participating on the interdisciplinary health care team and providing education to staff and residents as deemed appropriate.

Candidates shall coordinate with agency staff to ensure all requirements are met before the individual provides any care, treatment, or other services for the facility and/or its residents.License to practice as a Dietitian in the State of Iowa, as issued by the Iowa Board of Dietetic Examiners.

Candidates shall coordinate with agency staff to ensure all requirements are met before the individual provides any care, treatment, or other services for the facility and/or its residents. Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:</p><ol><li><p>Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing and experience equal to one year of full-time professional clinical work in a correctional environment or in any combination of nursing specialty areas including epidemiology, geriatrics, maternal and child health, nursing education, pediatrics, public health, mental health or psychiatrics, or intellectual disability.</p></li><li><p>All of the following (a and b):</p></li><br></ol><p>a. One year of full-time professional clinical work experience in either a correctional environment or in any combination of nursing specialty areas including epidemiology, geriatrics, maternal and child health, nursing education, pediatrics, public health, mental health or psychiatrics, or intellectual disability; and</p><p>b. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in nursing equals one year of full-time experience.</p><br><ol start="3"><br><li>Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch at the Iowa Veterans Home that includes experience equal to five years of full-time work as a Registered Nurse.
