Minimum Requirements:

  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association.

  • Licensed as a Dietitian/Nutritionist in the state of Florida.

  • Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition of Dietetics from an accredited college or University.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the appropriate Licensure, credentials and registrations; including but not limited to licensure as Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) in the State of Florida and registration as Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

  • Maintains expertise in medical nutrition therapy in general clinical practice.

  • Performs calorie counts as requested and maintains accurate records daily of nutritional care activities, participates in patient tray assessments and meal rounds.

  • Develops and implements medical nutrition care plans.

  • Performs nutrition screening, intervention, as well as comprehensive nutrition assessments and reassessments following departmental policies and procedures.

  • Accurately calculates nutrient composition of enteral feedings and parenteral solutions.

  • Monitors, evaluates, modifies & documents medical nutrition therapy following established policies and procedures.

  • Initiates and follows up on nutrient intake analysis as indicated in departmental polices and procedures.

  • Provides counseling and education to patients and or significant others regarding medical nutrition therapy as needed.

  • Develops and reviews educational materials for patients as needed.

  • Precepts dietetic interns during clinical rotations: Coordinates clinical activities for dietetic interns to meet their education objectives, serves as a resources to dietetic interns regarding medical nutrition therapy, monitors and evaluates clinical performance of dietetic intern and reports dietetic interns' performance to Clinical Nutrition Manager.

  • Communicates special needs of patients to diet office personnel through use of computer, Kardez, and discussion.

  • Provides diet guidelines to Dietary Supervisors, diet clerks, and cooks.

  • Voluntarily participates in community outreach programs when nutrition programs are requested.

Duties: * Facilitates process improvements between Supply Chain Services and Surgical Services. Coordinates and monitors consultative team efforts, related to outcomes, product conversions, contracts, education and distribution process. Analytical ability to identify problems, formulate alternative solutions, understand cost models, determine clinical acceptability, and assist with the design and development of systems and processes * Supports Supply Chain needs of physicians, nurses, and support staff within the peri-operative complex improving financial outcomes, refining business processes and enhancing quality as it relates to supply and service procurement. * Develops Value Enhancement programs to standardize products and services through the utilization of contractual vendors. * Oversees OR Value Enhancement Programs and provides clinical oversight programs to maintain quality and financial integrity for surgical services. * Maintains close working relationships with Supply Chain Managers and Distribution to determine appropriate pricing contract terms, current supply levels and stock/non-stock distribution options. * Works with surgical services staff on medical device product selection and all aspects of receiving, inventory, and distribution for the peri-operative complex. * Works with Surgical Services and Supply Chain Services areas to develop processes to better support organizational logistics, goals and objectives. * Assists Supply Chain managers, monitors and evaluates compliance, payments and Medical Center reimbursements as it applies to patient charges and supply management. * Acts as the primary point of contact for vendors and surgical services staff in need of product and contractual information. Communicates with surgical services director and ancillary departments about opportunities for cost reduction. Strong customer orientation, interpersonal, and communication (oral, written, and presentation) skills * Interacts with department managers and vendors in a professional manner. Works as a team member, makes sound decisions, works well under pressure and meets multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines. * Performs cost benefits and validation of cost savings initiatives and their expected impact on the surgical services budget. * Assists with information gathering to prepare Request for Proposals and solicit bids on surgical services good and services. Minimum Requirements * Bachelors degree required.
