Summary:
The Clinical Development Education Specialist is responsible for coordinating internal development with external relationships for clinical education at Covenant HealthCare. This includes collaboration with area schools of healthcare education, Covenant Healthcare department leaders, educators, and employees enrolled in or interested in healthcare professions.
The specialist will evaluate and develop internal training programs by partnering with internal and external resources for the development of new healthcare professionals. This person demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that their attitude and actions are consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care
for Every Generation
Responsibilities:
Along with the manager of clinical development and education, oversees program alliances with area schools, technical institutions, colleges, and universities, such as cohorts or apprenticeships. Builds effective working relationships with faculty from area schools, technical institutions, colleges, and universities to support clinical education at Covenant HealthCare.
Maintains current information related to cost, timeline, and requirements for education completion with areas technical institutions, colleges, and universities . Responsible for leading Covenant's HealthCare Career Advisory Council. Is an advisor for Covenant employees interested in pursuing nursing education in healthcare careers. Counsels Covenant staff regarding available support programs for completion/repayment of nursing education. Collaborates with Covenant educators, leaders, and clinical staff
to foster clinical development of nursing students from area institutions. In collaboration with the manager of clinical development and education, oversees the Covenant Nurse Intern and Discover Covenant Programs. Supports
early recruitment processes for graduating healthcare career professionals. Responsible for motivating, communicating, and coaching staff in clinical
instruction, while adhering to policies, standards, and pertinent regulations. Ensures open communication and optimal functioning among all instructors.
Supports the education team following adult learning principles for optimal education comprehension. Collaborates with members of the health care team to support quality education programs that are evidence-based and meet
quality outcomes. Assures educational needs are met which fulfill regulatory requirements for patient services nursing and clinical education requirements for schools of nursing represented. Participates in hospital wide continuous quality improvement activities.
Participates as a leader or member of key departmental and hospital committees. Serves as a consultant for educational activities within Covenant HealthCare. Keeps abreast of current research and standards of care to enhance the education provided for
Patient Services staff. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Current Michigan licensure to practice as an RN. Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
Master's Degree or Nursing Professional Development (NPD) certification preferred. Experienced with School of Nursing Clinical
Instruction required. Minimum of two (2) years' education experience required. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Computer
competence, including Microsoft Office, LMS and Outlook. Knowledge of standard office and A/V equipment. Clinical expertise.
Knowledge and expertise in application of adult learning principles. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Background in
application of adult learning principles required. Ability to present education in front of large groups. Must be able to work well with
the public and able to be tactful in often hectic and stressful situations. Sound judgment in handling confidential or sensitive
issues and material. Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships and communication.
Demonstrates ability to accept and implement change. Demonstrates ability for problem-solving. Strong organizational skills with
the ability to work independently and take initiative as well as lead and empower others WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL
DEMANDS Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local
standards. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, twisting, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking and hearing.
Frequent depth perception, near, midrange, and far vision. Occasional carrying, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching.
