Provides comprehensive professional counseling services to students from all UNMC academic programs to maximize their personal and professional effectiveness. Duties include biopsychosocial intake assessment, mental health counseling, couples therapy, group facilitation, and wellness presentations.

Clinical Counseling, Social Work, or related field

Experience as a professional mental health counselor working with adults or young adults

Nebraska licensure as a mental health practitioner (LMHP, LIMHP, PLMHP), psychologist (LP), or license eligible

Strong clinical and crisis management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Self-motivated and self-directed, able to work independently while also contributing positively to a team-oriented environment. Experience in an area of mental health pertinent to adult students (e.g. trauma, grief, sexual orientation/identity, stress/anxiety, relationships, dimensions of wellness, life transitions, etc.). Ability to effectively counsel students and consult with faculty and staff on a wide range of issues. Ability to recognize those individuals whose therapeutic issues/needs are beyond the scope of solution-focused counseling and ability to provide appropriate and timely referrals.
