Full-Time Day Clinical Coordinator

MedBridge Healthcare is seeking a full-time experienced Clinical Coordinator (RPSGT) to work at our MD general university location, MD. The position will manage the Sleep Lab Monday through Friday during daytime hours.

MedBridge is a leading provider of sleep laboratory management services and sleep therapy. MedBridge partners with hospitals and physician practices to offer comprehensive fully-integrated services for patient identification, testing, diagnosis, treatment and long-term care management of patients with sleep disorders.

General Duties:

  • Perform all job functions in technologist positions I, II, and III at multiple facilities.

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the clinical center. Performs sleep related testing, to include, accurate technical analysis (scoring).

  • Comply with the 7 plans of the environment of care and all related clinical policies and procedures.

  • Maintains BCLS and Registered Polysomnographic credentials.

  • Coordinates and oversees the staff scheduling, in-services, and mandatory staff meetings.

  • Work schedules for employees are to coincide with patient volumes, and not to incur overtime unless specified by the area operations manager.

  • Applies effective cost avoidance issues in the operation of each center.

  • Coordinates and helps perform orientation of new employees in conjunction with the Executive Director of Education.

  • Provides technical assistance to staff as needed.

  • Responsible for participating in the development of departmental policies and procedures.

  • Assesses and monitors employee performance and communicates area of performance requiring improvement.

  • Provides yearly performance evaluations for staff.

  • Performs Quality Improvement of lab and reports to Medical Director and Area manager.

  • Provides preventative maintenance on all capital equipment maintained in the sleep center.

Pay range 38-42 DOE

Job Specifications

Education: High school or equivalent degree. Four-year degree preferred. Continuing education in sleep diagnostics required per SSA policy.

Experience: At least 2 to 3 years of sleep experience is required. (BRPT requirements) Certification as Tech levels I, II, and III required.

Certification Licensure/Registration: Active Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is required. RPSGT required. RN, LPN, EMT, CRT, RRT preferred. MUST ALSO HAVE AN MD LICENSE

Machines, Tools, Equipment, and Work Aids:

  • Polysomnography hardware and software

  • Computerized sleep acquisition systems and laptop computers

  • Skin electrodes and adhesives

  • Airflow and respiratory-effort measuring devices, e.g., thermistors, piezo-crystal sensors.

  • Audio/video recording systems and photography equipment

  • Resuscitation equipment

  • Oxygen administration devices

  • Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and other ventilatory assist devices

  • Pulse oximeters, and end-tidal CO2 analyzers.

  • Disinfecting and sterilizing agents

  • Blood pressure monitors

Job Relationships:

  • Is supervised by the Area Operations Manager.

  • Provides aid and instruction to other staff members or patients they are responsible for as needed.

  • Has daily contact with sleep center staff.

  • Works closely with hospital/clinical staff, other technicians, and physicians to establish protocols, conduct polysomnograms, and perform special procedures as needed.

Special Abilities: Must have the ability to integrate basic understanding of adult and pediatric anatomy and physiology with sleep/wake pathology. Excellent communication skills are required for ensuring patient education, safety and comfort, as well as discussing patient and clinical situations with supervisors. Attention to detail is critical, since the quality of the data from the polysomnogram is solely the responsibility of the technician. Must also have the ability to work independently, ability to read maps, to read and follow written directions and protocols, and good clinical monitoring skills. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English fluently.

Physical Demands: Requires prolonged sitting, standing, may require frequent bending, stooping, or stretching, may require lifting up to 50 pounds, requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity, requires ability to distinguish letters, symbols, and corrected vision/hearing to normal range.

Mandatory Training Required: Pre-requisite: Technician III

Patient Age Groups and Years: 0 - 100+

Working Conditions: May work in a medical sleep laboratory, patient bedside, or patient home. Requires use of office equipment to complete some tasks. May operate a motor vehicle to and from patient homes, sometimes in adverse weather conditions. At times may require working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
