Coordinates clinical activities of the assigned unit to assure optimum quality patient care. Responsibilities include the appropriate assignment and supervision of nursing resources, oversight of patient care and clinical activities, quality improvement and staff development.

Plans and directs care for patients with complex patient care problems. Identifies staff and patient education needs and coordinates appropriate resources. Assumes leadership skills in team building, delegation, communication, and conflict management.

Knowledgeable in performance improvement and continuous improvement in work processes and outcomes. Demonstrates a strong customer driven approach in the management of areas of responsibility. Serves as a role model for professional and clinical practice. Integrates the Mission and Values into operational management of the unit.

1.Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
2.Current registered nurse licensure to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
3.Bachelor's degree in nursing or other health related discipline preferred.
4.Minimum of three years clinical experience preferable in area of specialty of responsibility.
5.Certification in clinical specialty preferred.
6.Demonstrated previous leadership experience.
7.Knowledge of Windows based computer systems and software.

An essential function of this position is to comply with BSHSI Policy (SYS.HR.NUR.001) which requires, as a condition of employment, that all registered nurses with diplomas or associate degrees who apply and are hired after May 1, 2015 complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree within five years of start date.

VIEW JOBS 1/13/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-13T00:00 Clinical Counselors support Navy Fleet and Family Support Programs (FFSPs), a central delivery system for service member and family support through non-medical, short term, solution focused counseling and Family Advocacy Program services. FFSPs are designed to facilitate personal and family readiness and adaptation to life in the military and to keep individuals and families resilient and strong, preventing individual and family dysfunction, facilitating personal and family self-sufficiency, and creating overall command and community well-being. Clinical Counselors are clinical personnel who can provide both counseling and case management services. Employees filling this position may be generalists, or they may focus in providing one or more of the programs and services identified below. * Provides immediate intervention and risk assessment IAW best practices in the mental health community and educate and ensure adequate referral and follow-up of any case presenting suicidal or homicidal risk. * Provides after-hours coverage for the FFSP in OCONUS locations, when required. * Ensures that crisis response services are fully documented in a FFSMIS case record system. * Facilitates and/or provide psychological first aid services to commands and/or groups within 24 hours of request, using accepted practices and procedures, in response to both small-scale (e.g., suicide) or large-scale incidents (e.g., Shipboard accident, man-made emergency). Collaborate with Chaplains and/or medical personnel in provision of psychological first aide, when indicated. * Provides assessment and short-term, solution focused counseling services to eligible individuals, marital or intimate partners, families and/or groups. Scope of practice is limited to counseling services for Other Conditions That May be a Focus of Clinical Attention and Adjustment Disorders. * Ensures referral for appropriate behavioral health follow-up of any psychological disorders or symptoms requiring longer-term and/or medical/psychiatric intervention. * Coordinates and manage specialized assessment and intervention services for at-risk children identified both inside and outside of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP). * Reports suspected child abuse and domestic abuse/violence to the local civilian authorities and the Family Advocacy. * Representative IAW Navy and state requirements.
