Responsibilities

To provide technical assistance, process intakes, and conduct investigations pertaining to allegations of discrimination per the Civil Rights Act protected classes (race, color, sex, religion, national origin, disability) in employment, the Fair Housing Act, Places of Public Accommodation and Americans with Disability Act. Meet and address the basic and issues per EEOC and HUD's FAIR Housing guidelines.

  • Perform investigative duties related to Employment, Fair Housing, Title VII, Americans with Disability Act (ADA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) and Public Accommodation discrimination complaints; by responding to, obtaining, recording testimony and evidence

  • Prepare settlement agreements by negotiating, conciliating and mediating with charging parties, respondents and their legal representatives to resolve discrimination complaints

  • Demonstrate community outreach and awareness by providing training related discriminatory practices in Employment, Fair Housing, and Public Accommodation

  • Attend professional development workshops and conferences

  • Responsible for administrative duties by inputting case information into two federal databases

  • Prepare required monthly Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) reports, by utilizing database to retrieve information for compilation

  • Prepare case files closures and record retention information by following local, state, and departmental guidelines

  • Drive to other sites in and out of the City

  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Requires an Associate's Degree

  • (2) two years of related experience

  • A combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Must obtain a Notary Public License within 6 months of hire

  • A valid driver's license is required at time of hire

  • Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
