Job Summary Supports the MedStar Clinical Content Management process for development and maintenance of provider clinical order sets, which includes the integration and maintenance of evidence based practice, clinical standards of practice, and MedStar standards of practice within the enterprise electronic health record (EHR).Maintains the infrastructure to support the life cycle of provider order sets (CPOE), and standards-based clinical decision support. These responsibilities require close alignment with the clinical practice leadership in each of the MedStar hospitals, with particular focus on clinical policies and procedures, and the relevant governance structures. Provides subject matter and process expertise and works within a project management environment, under the direction of the Project Manager for Clinical Knowledge Management.Facilitates the MedStar processes of integration of clinical knowledge and the adoption of evidence-based practices and health information technology. Contributes to the execution of Meaningful Use objectives and documentation of meeting Meaningful Use criteria. Minimum Qualifications Education/Training Masters degree in a relevant clinical discipline. # Experience 2 years of leadership experience in a health system or complex interdisciplinary acute care clinical environment. Experience in working within a team environment as member, facilitator, and process manager. Clinical experience as a mid-level provider or masters prepared clinician highly desirable. Experience with EHR as user or designer preferred; knowledge management experience helpful. Experience in working within program or project management framework highly desirable. Builds relationships with both entity and corporate clinician and IT leaders pertinent to clinical decision support strategies and documentation and evaluation of outcomes. Coaches customers and IS leadership on product use and direction. Contributes to the achievement of department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Coordinates with IS counterparts for design, build, and testing aspects of knowledge management as directed. Creates requirements for build application standards. Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations. Develops format for product and process testing and validation. Directs design, implementation, and maintenance of Powerplans and clinical decision support applications used to support order sets within CPOE. Executes the strategy for documentation of clinical evidence based practice and outcomes enabled by the EHR at MedStar. Facilitates system level task forces or councils to plan, implement, and coordinate clinical informatics activities relevant to knowledge management as directed. Maintains reporting infrastructure on the creation, use, and retirement of specific clinical knowledge content as directed. Participates as a member of the Clinical Knowledge Management team in the execution of relevant Meaningful Use objectives and meeting Meaningful Use criteria, including metrics development and/or maintenance. Participates in decisions for product upgrades, and report development. Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate. Participates in the Clinical Knowledge Management Group, carrying out responsibilities such as hosting and facilitating meetings, administering processes, monitoring progress of reviews, and interacting with both local clinical leaders and IS build team colleagues. Participates in the established MedStar Content Management and Content Change Management Processes as assigned by Project Manager. Performs other duties as assigned. Uses established management system for management of all order sets and other clinical documentation standards (such as standards of practice and instrument repositories), including appropriate interface with entity-based Content Coordinators, consensus groups, and local Clinical Informatics leadership.
