JOB SUMMARY

This job is responsible for the overall clinical support of account and sales specific activities within the Clinical Services division. The incumbent works with leaders in clinical services and sales/account management as a liaison, developing collaborative relationships across departments such as sales, actuary, product and marketing to provide clinical content research for clients, clinical expertise for high cost reporting, RFP responses, preparation for client meetings, and tracking of performance guarantees including participation in strategies to improve outcomes.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop collaborative relationships across various departments such as sales, actuary, product, marketing and others, as identified. Actively collaborate with account managers, clinical sales consultants, and other key stakeholders in preparation for client meetings. May accompany sales to attend and, at times, present at client meetings. Provide support and participate in sales finalist meetings from a clinical services perspective by providing the clinical insight into value to members and clients. This is a client-facing role.

  • Support the clinical management team to assure that there are clear expectations for Case Managers & Disease Managers as it relates to specific models and client accounts. Provide implementation and ongoing support for clinical teams for buy up products. Work with clinical managers to coach nurses on identified opportunities specific to client expectations.

  • Serve as primary leader in coordination and preparation for client audits and clinical reviews assuring that all requirements established by the client including contractual obligations are met and staff involved in any onsite reviews are adequately prepared and coached.

  • Analyze, synthesize, and provide clinical detail on High Cost Claims & Authorization reports leveraging many systems and programs.

  • Serve as the clinical subject matter expert for RFPs. Work with the clinical writing team to support the strategy in submissions.

  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Health Administration

  • 5 - 7 years in the Health Insurance Industry

  • 5 - 7 years in Clinical Services

  • Registered Nurse

Preferred

  • 1 - 3 years in Client Management

Substitutions

Position: Clinical Device Integration Analyst JOB SUMMARY: In conjunction with Clinical Engineering and GHS IT, performs installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, configuration, performance, and testing of hardware, software, and networks used for integration of biomedical devices with EMR(s). MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Technical: * Participates in the installation/implementation of medical devices and required provisions such as network , power, mounting. * Installs, monitors, troubleshoots, documents, configures, and tests hardware, software, and networks used for integration of biomedical devices with EMR(s). * Analyzes, defines, configures, and tests clinical device data used for transmitting HL7 data to the EMR(s) in conjunction with Clinical Engineering and GHS IT. * Annotates changes to inventory tracking of biomedical devices and proactively recommends process improvements. * Documents current state of the GHS biomedical device inventory process relating to networked equipment and identifies opportunities for standardization. * Identifies and addresses root cause of issue to effectively restore communication between biomedical devices. * Develops, utilizes, and enhances the service request and change management standards and processes as it relates to device integration. * Maintains and develops current processes relating to compliance and associated documentation within GHS. This includes but is not limited to the System Requirements Document (SRD) process. Documents current and future workflows relating to BMDI equipment placement and operation. * Provides continuing education training to super users, clinical staff and the Device Integration team on integration technologies as it relates to patient care workflow, change management and operational processes as required. * Assists in the completion and continued management of all Device Integration project plan deliverables. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Understanding of and experience with hospital patient care equipment. * Understanding of electronic theory and technology. * Understanding of and experience with HL7, DICOM, and other protocols. * Understanding of and experience with Capsule Technologies' enterprise device connectivity solutions highly desirable. * Understanding of clinical data flow into an EMR and other systems. * Experience with Epic's application suite highly desirable. * Experience integrating multiple clinical devices including monitors, vents, and pumps. * Knowledge of computer systems and ability to use basic computer software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, work order tracking, inventory management and databases). * Ability to clearly communicate technical principles to non-technical personnel both verbally and in writing. * Ability to analyze complex problems and recommend appropriate solutions. * Extensive experience working with senior and middle management as well as physicians and other clinicians. * Knowledge of biomedical device integration / Imaging architecture used for medical device integration including clinical applications and specialized areas such as Radiology and Anesthesiology. Includes an understanding of associated cybersecurity risks and issues. * Experience in project management and change management. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or similar related field. Equivalent experience considered. * Eight years Clinical Engineering and/or IT experience preferred in a healthcare environment. Will be familiar with networking infrastructure concepts, and patient monitoring networks. Minimum of 4 years in facilitating the coordination of hardware and software requirements, documenting workflow, and providing technical solutions. Prior EMR application support experience preferred. * BMET, CCE, and/or IT certifications desirable. * Valid driver's license and proof of vehicular insurance required. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: * On call as required * Must travel to all Geisinger Health System sites as needed. * Minor equipment lifting required.
