Responsibilities*

Provide nursing care in a variety of Ambulatory Care settings with primary responsibilities at West Ann Arbor Health Center. This position includes care of adult, pediatric, and obstetrical patients in general medicine, general pediatrics, family practice and specialty settings. Includes but not limited to:

Assessment of patient needs and assist with medical issues related to health concerns.

Manage prescription refill requests and secure patient messages.

Adapts communication style to patients representing diverse personal, professional, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Uses excellent listening skills to receive detailed information.

Utilize electronic protocol database to assess, educate and document all health information in an accurate and expedient fashion.

Responsive to the needs of a program (hours of operation)

Meets minimum established quality and productivity standards

Knowledge and appropriate use of internal and external resources.

Collaborate with providers when necessary in providing advice or determining disposition for patient.

Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel; collaborate with colleagues, other disciplines, and health care/community services to promote continuity of care.

Nurse visits including but not limited to pre-visit planning, medication reconciliation, patient education, and other nurse visits as requested.

Telephone management, patient and family education, assistance with procedures, daily clinic operations management, functional supervision of assistive personnel and other responsibilities as requested.

  • This position could involve travel to various locations to all Michigan Medicine facilities.

Salary range for RSAM Registered Nurses $39.47 - $61.39 / hour

Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour

Night Shift Differential- $4.00 / hour

Day Shift Weekend Differential- $2.90 / hour

Evening Shift Weekend Differential- $5.90 / hour

Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour

Charge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hour

Required Qualifications*

As evidence by interviews, recent performance appraisals, and reference feedback:

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan

  • Required Educational Requirement; applicant must meet one of the following:

Bachelors degree in Nursing OR

Associates degree or diploma in Nursing and a Masters degree or higher in Nursing

  • Ten (10) years of RN experience in Labor and Delivery

  • Certification in Advanced Fetal Monitoring

  • Must have extensive RN experience in OB Triage

NOTE: Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience in Ambulatory Care Nursing

  • Pediatric Gynecology experience

  • Telephone management experience

  • Experience in the specialty of OB

  • Sedation credentials

  • Emergency Department experience

  • Ambulatory Care Certification

  • Experience as a charge nurse or equivalent management skills

  • Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.

Work Schedule

Hours: 40 hours per week

Days/ Shift: Day shift; Mon ? Fri (possible evenings/weekends/holidays). Hours & Days will vary depending on needs.

Location: West Ann Arbor Health Center

This position requires 100% on site work

Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
