Job Description:

The Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences at SUNY Fredonia offers a Bachelor in Science in Communication Disorders Sciences, and a Master of Science (MS) degree in Speech-Language Pathology. MS program graduates meet the requirements for ASHA certification (CCC), for New York State licensure, and for Initial Certification as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD).

The Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences invites applications for a clinical audiologist position to provide clinical services and graduate student supervision in the Youngerman Center for Communication Disorders.

At a minimum, eligible applicants must have a Master's Degree in Audiology and three years of clinical experience, possess a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A), and have or be eligible for a New York State professional license. Candidates possessing a Clinical Doctorate in Audiology (AuD), and those having experience with university teaching are preferred.

Salary range is competitive with peer institutions for rank and in keeping with candidate experience and credentials. This is a 12-month position with an anticipated start in the Summer or Fall of 2024.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide clinical audiological services for the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences in the Youngerman Center for Communication Disorders;

  • Perform and demonstrate high quality clinical services according to recognized professional and clinical standards;

  • Perform department and supervisory duties and responsibilities;

  • Display knowledge, skills, and expertise for disordered populations serviced and familiarity with the equipment and materials used to meet the needs of the clients serviced;

  • Provide education and training regarding normal and disordered hearing;

  • Teach introductory undergraduate and/or graduate audiology coursework;

  • Promote and expand the scope of audiological services and the clinical referral base through the medical community;

  • Participate in committees and provide service to the department, college, university, and the profession.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Master's Degree in Audiology;

  • Minimum three years of clinical experience with Audiological Evaluations, Hearing Aid Dispensing; assessment across the age range;

  • Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (ASHA CCC-A);

  • Be eligible for NYS licensure in Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispenser license;

  • Be eligible for enrollment with major third-party insurances, Medicare and Advantage Plans.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Clinical Doctorate in Audiology (AuD) is preferred;

  • Possess a NYS licensure in Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispenser license;

  • Be a registered insurance provider with major third-party insurances such as Medicare and Advantage Plans;

  • Experience with University teaching;

  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department missions.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, term appointed, SL3, UUP represented position with a State budget title of Senior Staff Assistant to begin in Summer or Fall 2024.

Salary range of $96,000 -$102,000
