Position Summary

Position conducts/interprets standard/advanced audiometric tests, selects/fits/explains hearing aids, and develops research material.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs/interprets audiometric tests using both standard and advanced special testing methods.

  • Assists in selection of subjects and works with patients to dispense/fit conventional and programmable hearing aids.

  • Performs electrophysiological testing, such as ABG, ECochG, ENOG and intraoperative monitoring.

  • Evaluates central auditory dysfunction, determining level of patient condition and optional treatment methods.

  • Counsels on aural rehabilitation and assistive listening devices.

  • Conducts regular resident teaching sessions, presents monthly physician briefings on research progress and develops graphic presentations using variety of computer based programs.

  • Submits research findings for analysis, presentation at professional meetings and publication in professional journals.

  • Calibrates/maintains audiologic equipment.

  • Assists with related administrative duties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Equivalent of Certificate of Clinical Competence (C-AAA) from ASHA or eligibility for clinical fellowship, with Missouri license in audiology and hearing aid dealer/fitter license.

  • Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Equivalent of MS in audiology with Missouri and/or Illinois Audiology license, depending on work location.

  • Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements). BLS certification must be obtained within one month of hire date.

Salary Range

$73,400.00 - $113,800.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
