Job Summary:
The Clinical Assistant is responsible for providing quality, compassionate care to patients in a physician's office or clinic setting consistent with the policies and procedures set by the organization. As a member of the clinical staff, the Clinical Assistant will actively participate in identifying needs of the patients and will implement as directed ways to improve patient care.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Use patient first values in assisting patients with needs
Greet patients with compassion and a friendly face
Take and record vital signs of patient, data collection/documentation using electronic medical records
Prepare patients for examinations
Dispose of contaminated supplies/used items
Sterilize medical instruments as needed
Ensure that exam rooms are clean and stocked for patient use
Maintain supplies and equipment, ensure to work with co-workers to stock
Attend nurse meetings and other educational opportunities
May be moved to other offices upon request based upon the business need of Holston Medical Group on an occasional basis
Obtain prior authorizations and pre-certifications as needed for patients having procedures or tests
HIPAA forms
School/work excuses
No show letters
Jury duty notes
FMLA/STD forms
Strong assessment form (documentation in EMR)
Asisst with UDS collection
Chaperone
Patient escort
Autoclave
NST's
Pick up vaccines and other medications as needed
Give normal test results
Mail normal labs to patients
Referral appt info/tracker
Referrals/ordered test completion
Create a task
Perform Eye exam (IRIS) and Snellen chart
Perform EKG's
Perform customer service checks on patients every 10 minutes
Change sharps container and biohazard trash
Nursing checks- expiration date on samples/meds, O2 tanks, eye wash stations, biohazard room check
Ensure to follow policies and procedures set by Holston Medical Group
Maintain communication with providers to ensure that patents needs are taken care of
Communicate all office issues with the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager.
Ensure that equipment is in operating order (crash cart, defibrillator, autoclave, etc.)
Ensure that the Health Department records are maintained for the vaccinations for children
Maintain clinical area to meet site visit standards
Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters relating to personnel and patient PHI (Protected Health Information)
Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
Knowledge:
CPR certified
Must possess excellent communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others

Work independently and identify potentially more effective methods of work operations. Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
