The purpose of this position is to provide direct patient care in the ASC, maintaining and operating specialized equipment, and performing any other duties deemed necessary to insure optimal patient care. While this role is intended to serve at a particular APM location, it is within APM?s right to assign staff to other APM locations when there are staffing shortages. Staff shall be reimbursed for their mileage for such assignments pursuant to APM policy.
Assist in pre/post operation by preparing patient for procedure; correctly identifying patient, procedure to be performed, and procedure site. Updates and confirms medication and allergy profiles, completes appropriate clinical lab work (glucose reading, INR, pregnancy test, completes and documents vital signs, pain status, HPI. Reinforces pre and post op teaching.
Obtain and document vitals and modified Aldrete and discharge scoring systems. Assists in discharge of patient with appropriate paperwork.
Perform chart review on daily basis to ensure completeness and accuracy of patient documentation.
Assist in keeping ASC orderly and follows appropriate cleaning protocols.
Participate and maintains safety and dignity of patient at all times.
Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients.
Driving may be required when working in clinic roles.
All other duties as assigned.
