The Department of Health Informatics & Information Management (HIIM) at Texas State University invites applications for one non-tenure line faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. This is a full-time position beginning no later than Fall 2024 on the Round Rock Campus with a nine-month academic year appointment and possible summer employment.
Duties and Expectations:
As a member of the undergraduate faculty, assist faculty colleagues, the program director, and the department chair by coordinating curriculum updates and interfacing with other university and accrediting organizations. Teach HIM undergraduate courses on topics that may include health information technology and systems, health information statistics and research, data analytics, information governance, health information security, health care delivery systems, medical coding, legal aspects of HIM, health information services management, or other HIM specific content areas. Faculty members are expected to participate in curriculum review and development, assist with student advising, and participate in service activities at the department, college, university, and professional levels.
All positions are subject to the availability of funds.
Required Qualifications
An earned master's or doctorate degree in health information management, health informatics, healthcare administration, business, computer science, computer information systems, adult education, public health, or other closely related field
Minimum 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline
Current and contemporary competence in clinical practice or management
Five or more years of full-time experience in practice or management
Experience in professional education at the university level
Engaged in scholarship through relevant professional presentations, workshops, or publications
Leadership in relevant professional organizations
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly as evidenced by a presentation during the campus visit with faculty
Preferred Qualifications
Health information management or healthcare-related experience
RHIA, RHIT, CPHIMS, or other relevant certification based on a professional curriculum teaching assignment
Documentation of online course preparation and delivery expertise
Documentation of recent and ongoing professional development
Effectiveness in teaching demonstrated by student and peer evaluation scores
