Position Summary Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute is one of the region's largest orthopedic and sports medicine practices, providing comprehensive care for more than 250,000 patients each year. This August, the institute will open Florida's first dedicated orthopedic hospital, featuring 75 private inpatient rooms, 10 operating suites with four virtually connected suites that can be used to train surgeons around the world, and a state-of-the-art research and innovation center with a 10-station bio skills lab and 3D printer.

In March, a new medical pavilion opened adjacent to the hospital and houses outpatient clinics, an imaging suite, physical therapy spaces and the largest orthopedic ambulatory surgery center in Florida. Position Summary The Clinical Assist is trained in structured clinical assessments, professional documentation, population health workflows and team-based care in an ambulatory office or inpatient hospital setting to facilitate efficient and effective medical care between patients and clinical team members.

Jewett Orthopedic Institute -Lake Mary Responsibilities Essential Functions: Gathers data through patient or caregiver interviews and direct or indirect observation of clinical team member.

Documents clinical data, assessments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department specific policies.

Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician or APP. Assists the physician, APP, or clerical team members by acting as a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule, provide patient with scheduling information to obtain specialty testing, and/or specialty physician consultation.

Effectively chart prep for upcoming appointments, ensuring complete charts before patient arrival.

Processes incoming and outgoing calls in an independent and professional manner using sound clinical judgment. Able to help lead and participate in departmental committees and special projects as assigned.

Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice.

Embraces and participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities. Supports and demonstrates effective and professional communication with patients and family members.

Adheres and assures compliance with Orlando Health and department specific policy, procedures, value statements and Commitment to Excellent standards.

Consistently demonstrates personal and patient safety practices and adherence to infection control standards outlined in Orlando Health policies. Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary assess data appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patients on his or her assigned department and/or unit. Demonstrates awareness of medical/legal issues, patient rights and compliance with standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Practices the efficient use of supplies.

Assists business office as needed with reception, scheduling, and discharge of patients. Qualifications Education/Training: High school graduate or equivalent Licensure/Certification:

Hold completion certification of an Orlando Health verified clinical documentation training program or complete a verified training program within 2 months of hire Experience: Minimum one (1) year of experience in a health care related position or health related education
