The state of New York provided $60 million to establish a School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Binghamton University. The school, which enrolled its inaugural PharmD class in 2017, is housed in a state-of-the-art, 105,000 square-foot building dedicated to research and education and located at the University's new Health Sciences Campus. The school's outstanding pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences leaders use contemporary medication management and innovative research to transform human health locally and globally. The research and clinically focused school is training the next generations of graduates to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered pharmaceutical care to diverse groups of patients, especially those in underserved rural and geriatric communities. Our new pharmacy simulations laboratory houses a hospital pharmacy with a 797-compliant sterile room, community pharmacy with a robotic dispenser, patient home setting, and three hospital rooms complete with electrocardiographic/respiratory/hemodynamic monitoring and high-fidelity manikins.

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). MS and PhD programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences launched in fall 2022 to further advance the School's translational, clinical and outcomes research within the changing landscape of drug development, pharmacy practice and clinical science.

Job Description:

Binghamton University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences invites applications for a full-time, Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor position in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and a strong commitment to practice, scholarship and teaching. Areas of specialty for this position are Adult Medicine with consideration for a subspecialty in infectious diseases. The 12-month, non-tenure track position offers an exciting opportunity to be a member of an innovative program. Faculty will also be expected to develop an innovative clinical practice site and serve as a preceptor for students on introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences. The school has established affiliations and has faculty practicing within the major medical centers in the Southern Tier, Upstate areas of New York, and Northwell Health System on Long Island. A strong interest in research is required and support is provided with our unique mentoring program and pilot project funding. The opportunity to collaborate with top faculty researchers in pharmaceutical sciences, health outcomes and administrative sciences, clinical pharmacy, and transdisciplinary scientists across the Binghamton University campus will help propel your own research. Primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide evidence-based medicine and compassionate patient-centered care working with our clinical partners at the designated practice site.

  • Precepting our students in direct patient care introductory pharmacy practice experiences, advanced pharmacy practice experiences, and the capstone research course

  • Develop and sustain scholarship in an area appropriate to clinical science

  • Collaborate with other departmental faculty in the school to develop and deliver an integrated educational experience for students

  • Demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence in the provision of instruction and assessment of student learning outcomes in the integrated pharmacotherapy series, clinical skills, and other appropriate curriculum

  • Contribute service to the school, university, profession, and our community

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate must possess a PharmD degree from an accredited institution and be eligible for licensure in New York or Pennsylvania.

  • The successful candidate must have completed a PGY-1 residency prior to appointment.

  • Prior experience with didactic teaching at a school/college of pharmacy is preferred.

  • Completion of a PGY2 residency or at least two years of relevant post-PharmD experience in a setting that involves patient care is desirable.
