POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinical Applications Manager is responsible for leading the successful creation and implementation of a standardized clinical content program for the Ambulatory EHR. This position will guide the clinical team through the creation and facilitation of a content management process, the facilitation of clinical content development, and the ongoing support of a standard clinical content model. Clinical content will include templates, order sets, disease management and any clinical content builds utilized for the successful implementation and use of the application. The position requires solid clinical knowledge and the ability to facilitate and communicate discussions built around specialty content development within the EHR application.

The Clinical Application Manager is also responsible for leading clinical workflow development and recommendations for practice users. He/she will serve as the clinical expert guiding the clinical team to manage the use of EHR and suggest workflows to enhance practice efficiency, streamlined provider/staff documentation, and patient throughput. He/she will work closely with the Physician Services Group (PSG) Chief Medical Information Officer, PSG Quality, PSG Government Programs, and PSG Information Technology & Systems (IT&S) departments to stay abreast of new system releases and create workflows for new/enhanced functionality.

The Clinical Application Manager also leads facilitation for EHR implementation efforts, for both centrally-led implementations and division-led implementations, from a clinical content and workflow recommendation perspective. Depending on the specialty, he/she may be required to build new content within the system to accommodate a new practice or provider's transition to our HCA-hosted version of eClinicalWorks EHR. The Clinical Application Manager will also lead optimization efforts/projects and provide clinical expertise for more efficient use of the EHR. The position requires interaction with all organizational levels with an in-depth understanding and appreciation for clinical information, workflow analysis, and technology's capabilities, limitations, and impact on clinical practices. The candidate must be results-oriented with a demonstrated strong commitment and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.

EDUCATION

  • Master's Degree is required

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 5 years clinical experience preferably in ambulatory care

  • 1 2 years experience with large EHR systems, prefer HCA experience

  • RN, PharmD, or other clinical degree preferred with experience in multi-specialty areas

  • 3 or more years clinical experience with supervisory and managerial responsibilities preferred

  • Experience in training providers and their staff

  • Experience in the project management and implementation of AmbulatoryEHR system(s) preferred

  • Must demonstrate expert level knowledge of EHR systems

  • Travel up to 20%

POSITION SUMMARY: The Application Manager is responsible for the successful development and implementation of a standardized clinical content and functionality within the Physician Services Group Ambulatory EHR. This will include the creation and facilitation of a content management process, the facilitation of content development, and the ongoing support of a standard content model. The position requires solid knowledge of application development, practice operations, and the ability to facilitate communication with key stakeholders. The Application Manager works with the Clinical Application Manager who responsible for clinical workflow development and recommendations for practice users, to determine the scope of new product development and utilization. He/she will serve as the expert for the use of EHR and suggest workflows to enhance practice efficiency, streamlined provider/staff documentation, and patient throughput. He/she will work closely with the Physician Services Group (PSG) Chief Medical Information Officer and PSG Information Technology & Systems (IT&S) departments to stay abreast of new system releases and create workflows for new/enhanced functionality. The Application Manager also assists with facilitation for EHR implementation efforts, for both centrally-led implementations and division-led implementations, from a workflow recommendation perspective. The Manager will oversee patient facing applications in both standard ambulatory EHR systems and provide guidance to division leadership to align nonstandard EHR patient facing applications with the vision and strategy of PSG leadership. The Application Manager will also assist in optimization efforts/projects and provide clinical expertise for more efficient use of the EHR. The position requires interaction with all organizational levels with an in-depth understanding and appreciation for clinical information, workflow analysis, and technology's capabilities, limitations, and impact on clinical practices. The candidate must be results-oriented with a demonstrated strong commitment and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done. The Manager will be responsible for providing guidance, feedback, and expertise to the Group Vice Presidents, CMIO, and AVP of Ambulatory EHR. DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: * Works full time to support the EHR program with a focus on the Ambulatory EHR; coordinates and implements a broad range of functionality for outpatient clinicians, ensuring and supporting a consistent focus on physicians and their specialty * Maintain current state functionality with patient facing applications and ensure compliance with regulatory efforts. * Collaborates with Clinical Services Group (CSG) partners to ensure HCA's clinical initiatives are front and center during PSG's EHR implementation initiative and ongoing rollout of new functionality and process enhancements * Able to develop and facilitate the deployment process and ongoing maintenance process of modules within the core application * Establish and maintain effective relationships with clinical professionals and other stakeholders across the enterprise by recruiting clinicians' leadership, input, and buy-in for the content design and maintenance process * Facilitates effective communication among all team members to ensure comprehensive understanding of needs, expectations, and requirements * Constantly evaluates the current state of patient facing applications, works with AVP EHR to develop forward strategy for patient engagement * Collaborate with Clinical Application Managers on the design, development and maintenance of clinical quality content, reporting and workflow solutions for ambulatory EHR applications to meet compliance and contractual requirements, including government programs, HCA initiatives, and corporate/division/facility requirements * Able to effectively guide resources through the design of standard content, and functionality * Focused on providing high-quality clinical analysis and support to all of the AEHR team and PSG eClinicalWorks users * Able to identify risks and opportunities regarding the design, implementation, and future use of functionality and other HIT initiatives * Establish and maintain effective relationships with clinical champions and other stakeholders across the enterprise by working with Director and division EHR teams to recruit clinicians' leadership, input, and buy-in for the content, quality, and workflow design and maintenance process * Collaborate on the development of best practices and guiding principles for content development, use, and maintenance within a common EHR framework * Assist in medication safety and risk reduction projects * Serve as an application expert for the clinical components of the EHR * Provide recommendations for the effectiveness of training strategies and materials and recommends changes * Participates in the definition of project success criteria and defines metrics to be collected, analyzed and reported * Participates in the development of optimization tools, from a clinical perspective EDUCATION * Bachelor's Degree is required * Master's Degree or higher preferred EXPERIENCE: * Experience in training providers and their staff * Experience in the project management and implementation of AmbulatoryEHR system(s) preferred * Must demonstrate working knowledge of EHR systems * Travel up to 20% We believe in going above and beyond, and feel that there is no nobler pursuit than that of caring for and improving human life.
