Description:
Through theory-based practice, the RN utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement and evaluate outcome-based care for Oncology and Hematology patients. The RN facilitates communication with physicians, patient and family, other departments and/or team members. Adheres to MercyOne performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with MercyOne.
What you will Do:
Conducts an initial and ongoing assessment to gather and analyze data.
Identifies patient short and long-term goals and develops them into an outcome-based plan of care.
Implements an outcome-based plan of care.
Evaluates patient response to treatments and modifies the outcome-based plan.
Communicates relevant clinical information to optimize patient outcomes.
Educates patient and family to meet identified needs.
Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
Adheres to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures.
Hours Schedule:
.9 FTE (72 hours biweekly)
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate Degree: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing / bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum of 1-year clinical patient care experience.
Current Iowa RN license, BLS, Mandatory Reporter. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) designation or achieve within 18 months of hire.

What you will Do:
Analyze records for completeness and patient history.
Prepare exam/procedure rooms and equipment for patient care.
Greet, identify patient and prepare patient for exam while protecting patient's privacy.
Review/document current medication and allergies
Take vital signs, obtain chief complaints, history, and documents.
Assist provider with routine procedures and provide patient care as directed by provider (i.e., immunizations, spirometry, injections, EKG, nebulizer, ear washing, wart removal)
Assist providers with patient care via phone, mail and/or fax.
Communicate effectively between provider and patient.
Hours/Schedule:
72 hours biweekly (.9 FTE)
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
LPN license, RN license or Medical Assistant Diploma
