Franciscan Medical Group is currently seeking a full time Clinic Medical Assistant for our Franciscan Medical Clinic at Point Fosdick in Gig Harbor, WA! We are looking for an energetic, compassionate and detail oriented person to room patients and support a new Family Care Practitioner at our Point Fosdick Primary Care. This position is a 4 /10 hour day schedule. No weekends or organizationally recognized holidays required!

About Your Position:

  • As a Medical Assistant, you will work as a member of a care team to provide care and support to patients under the direction of a physician or mid-level provider. Your daily responsibilities will include the following types of things:

  • Greeting and preparing patients for their visit with the provider by obtaining and recording their vital signs and other information such as height, weight, drug allergies, current medications and presenting problem

  • Assisting with diagnostic tests and clinical procedures such as venous and capillary invasive procedures for blood draws, intradermal (including skin tests), subcutaneous and intramuscular injections

  • Administering medications and vaccinations

  • Managing patient flow, ensuring enough time for patient and family education

  • Preparing and sterilizing instruments and maintaining equipment and patient care areas clean and orderly

  • Scheduling patient appointments and other administrative duties as needed

  • Actively participating in continuing education, required meetings and committees as requested

  • May perform medical scribe duties under the direct supervision and review of the attending provider and in compliance with the FMG Medical Scribe Program Policy.


Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) and completion of a Medical Assistant certification program at an accredited institution that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities.

  • One year experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.


  • Washington State Certification as a Medical Assistant-Certified.

  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.

Responsibilities Position Overview: We are searching for a reliable Medical Assistant to perform various office and clinical duties to keep our healthcare center running efficiently. Our Medical Assistant will work directly with healthcare center staff to collect test samples, draw blood, give injections, maintain patient records, explain common medical procedures to patients and assist in basic examinations. What you'll do: * Update and maintain all client records and assist in transitioning hard copy records to digital format * Record patient information such as vital signs, weight and changes in medical history prior to each appointment * Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments * Work in the front office taking care of tasks such as answering phone calls and greeting patients as they enter the facility as needed * Assist the medical staff and office manager in maintaining the medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed * Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations * Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt. * Health & Wellness minded individual * Understand the role of educating patient along with providing MA responsibilities * Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms * Escort patients to exam rooms, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient's electronic chart * Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or physician assistant * Ensure all related reports, labs and information are filed are available in patients' medical records prior to their appointment * Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required * Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls * Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants * Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, etc.) * Perform minor medical office procedures * Able to perform an EKG * Give injections * Draw blood * Maintain confidentiality regarding all patient matters and patient data as per HIPAA regulations You'll love this job if you're: * A strong communicator and collaborator and work effectively with all members of the organization * You are highly organized yourself and like to organize others * You enjoy managing multiple activities and projects at once * You have a high level of professionalism * You always maintain a friendly disposition - even (and especially) under pressure * Quick on your feet!
