The Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences is seeking a full-time clinic biller/coordinator for the Health Circle Primary Care Clinic/Peak Nutrition Clinic/Center for Active Living. This position is responsible for assisting the clinic manager, providers and staff to ensure that the clinics meet their financial goals, ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of billing and collections. This position is also responsible for front office functions in the absence of the clinic receptionist.
Examples of Work Performed:
Assist the clinic medical receptionist when needed to complete clinic front desk operations.
Serve as a resource for staff and providers. Address customer service concerns and/or patient care issues within an appropriate time period. Work with Clinic Manager to resolve issues as needed.
Assist clinic manager to complete quality assurance checks for cash posting and reconcile billing system to the bank on a monthly basis.
Provide medical records and other pertinent information to internal and external customers as authorized and as needed. Follow release of information guidelines according to policy and HIPAA guidelines. Maintain control of medical records through established policies.
Assist clinic staff and providers to ensure that documentation in health record supports services provided-to accurately assign codes.
Assist clinic manager in supporting and educating providers and staff in clinical documentation within the electronic health record (EMR), utilizing the documentation tools and the application of the billing services codes and diagnoses codes within the clinical note.
Create and validate claims for billing purposes, verifies eligibility, and monitor reports to verify all possible billable cases are processed. Ensure proper sequencing of diagnostic and procedural codes; assigns modifiers as needed.
Actively seek information to understand member/patient circumstances and problems with patient billing issues. Investigate typical and escalated patient billing complaints.
Communicate with insurance brokers, third party administrators, and insurance carriers as questions and issues arise.
Assist in revenue recovery efforts.
Processe incoming referrals and prior authorizations for all clinics.
Attend various meetings to support and represent clinics as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $36,000-$46,000
This position has been determined to be eligible for overtime (non-exempt) under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
