The Weld County Department of Human Services Employment Services Division is searching for a Client Services Technician in the Client Data Services Unit. They will provide employment information and resources to visitors of Employment Services. Identify customer needs and refer to appropriate program, resource or partner agency. Assist customers in accessing information and services in Employment Resource Room. Rotate with other CST staff to provide lobby functions on Main Campus in Greeley. May occasionally work out of satellite offices in South Weld County.

The Weld County Department of Human Services (WCDHS) employs over 450 workers, who have the skills, passion and drive to service Weld County citizens in 31 incorporated municipalities and across almost 4,000 square miles.

The program areas of WCDHS help individuals make life-changing decisions and assist with emergency, quality of life issues daily.   • Area Agency on Aging (AAA) - Helps maintain an individual's independence and dignity in their home and community by planning, coordinating and advocating services to aid and protect our at-risk older population.

  • Assistance Payments

  • Aids individuals and families who qualify for financial, medical and food assistance.
  • Child Support
  • Provides services to include testing for paternity, establishing court orders for child support and enforcing child support payment obligations
  • Child Welfare
  • Assess for safety and provide protection to children and youth who are battered and abused, severely neglected, and/or dependent.
  • Employment Services
  • Offers employment opportunities, training, career planning, job skills development, workshops, job fairs, vocational skills assessments and child care related services.
  • Family Resource
  • Assists individuals and families with supportive services surrounding the areas of post adoption, promoting healthy and intact families, child abuse prevention, public assistance navigation and community outreach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Answer incoming phone calls to Employment Services. Identify efficiently and accurately the caller's need and direct caller to the proper extension or department employee in a customer focused manner. Provide calm, respectful responses to individuals in stress filled situations.

Greet and direct walk-in customers and visitors and identifies the purpose of the visit and provides assistance as needed. Check in customers for appointments and monitor to ensure they are seen promptly by staff. Oversee lobby and locks and unlocks doors daily. Monitor unauthorized posting in the lobby area.

Meet with a diverse customer base of visitors to Employment Services that includes mandated participants to obtain critical information used for matching customers with potential job opportunities and appropriate work readiness programs. Identify and evaluate potential employment needs of each customer based on individual employment barriers. Refer customers to appropriate agencies, community services or unit case managers.

Provide customers with information on various employment and training opportunities and counsel them on career options, labor market statistics and other available employment related resources. Encourage uncooperative jobseekers to utilize and participate in activities and programs that will increase their ability to become employed. Assist individuals in the resource room with on-line employment websites and job-related resources.

Enter and maintain customer and program information into appropriate County or State data management system. Complete all required data entry accurately, timely and appropriately based upon specific program requirements. Compile records and prepare various reports, forms or other appropriate documents in accordance with requirements for assigned unit.

Meet individual program goals such as community referrals, program referrals and specific program performance standards and participation rates. Implement timely corrective action plans to ensure goals are met by developing and implementing outreach plans and tools to recruit individuals for programs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.

  • Successful completion of an Associate's Degree is preferred.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Work Experience:

  • Two years full time business or clerical experience in an office environment which includes a high level of customer service and proven experience working with the public.

  • Experience communicating both verbally and in writing with a diverse group of clients and customers.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess ability to keyboard at 35 words per minute.

  • Must possess the ability to obtain information from various business or community agencies.

  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and adequate Liability Insurance. Must provide own transportation and be willing to travel throughout Weld County including our South County satellite offices.

  • Must pass Human Services Background Checks.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience working with Connecting Colorado State Employment site.

  • Experience assisting clients in job searches or other career development opportunities.

  • Ability to read and write Spanish in a proficient manner. Ability to interpret and translate between English and Spanish using professional language.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to enter data into several different computer programs. Ability to learn and apply new computer skills on a regular basis. Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Windows and Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and department policies and procedures. Ability to write correspondence.

Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Ability to facilitate workshops and present information to small and large groups.

Ability to apply math concepts and calculations in the work environment.

Ability to apply common sense to problem solve in a work environment.

Ability to adapt to fast paced, high volume and ever-changing work environment and be able to handle high stress situations.

Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and appropriate release of information.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time and is occasionally required to stand and walk. Occasionally the employee may be required to lift and/or move heavy files or objects up to 25 pounds. The employee frequently is required to use their hands and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus such as that used when using a computer or reading.
