INTERNSHIP TITLE: Client Services Intern (unpaid)

DEPARTMENT: Partnerships and Client Services

LOCATION: Greater Cleveland Food Bank, 15500 South Waterloo Rd., Cleveland, Ohio 44110

INTERNSHIP PROJECT: Assist in the Greater Cleveland Food Banks efforts to connect our neighbors to the food they need every day.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING:

Serve as the initial contact for SNAP applicants

  • Answer phones, communicate with clients in a friendly and professional manner

  • Prescreen clients for eligibility for SNAP and other benefits

  • Take calls from clients looking for referrals to emergency feeding sites and provide them information on food pantries, hot meals, and other sites

Complete confidential data entry

  • Keep accurate record of volunteer hours and provide feedback periodically

  • Track and enter necessary service information into department software

  • Update and maintain accuracy of food pantry templates

Support the Help Center and Outreach Staff

  • Answer questions from clients as able regarding SNAP eligibility, the application process, GCB services, etc.

  • Transfer interested applicants to Help Center Counselors

  • Provide additional support to Help Center Outreach Managers, as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong communication, customer service and problem-solving skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to quickly master department specific software

Attention to detail and excellent direction following skills

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to work up to 15 hours per week within business hours (8:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday)

  • Communicating effectively with people in person, and via telephone, fax, and email

  • Using a computer to create written communication

Essential Functions and Primary Duties * Position requires extensive client contact * Assists clients with inquiries related to account services and customer issues * Performs transactions such as: Asset Transfers, Receive & Deliver (Full/Partial Automated Customer Account Transfer Service "ACATS" as well as Non-ACAT requests, Free Receives/Delivers, Direct Registration System "DRS", Deposit or Withdrawal at Custodian "DWAC", Account to account transfers) * Account Servicing such as: * Cash Movement (Automated Clearing House "ACH", Fed wire, Check deposits, Check issuance) * Retirement Plan Processing (Contributions, Distributions, Rollovers, Service inquiries) * Trade Support (Corrections, Order inquires, trade exception resolution, margin, credit risk) * Cost Basis updates/Tax related inquiries * Dividend/Corporate Action inquiries * Resolving forms/Not-In-Good-Order issues * Resolves customer issues through research and resolution * Assists with departmental metrics development and distribution * Assists with projects and initiatives to improve service offerings and platform support * Additional responsibilities as assigned Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor's degree Minimum Qualifications * High School Diploma or GED * At least five years of professional, investment experience * Possesses advanced knowledge and understanding of industry and professional concepts, principles, practices, and procedures * Possesses expert knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations and professional standards * Expert use of applicable technology * Proficient use of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and enterprise communication and travel solutions (Concur, Skype) * Experience performing work that requires initiative and leadership skills * Experience in coaching and teaching others * Ability to anticipate and elicit customer needs * Ability to self-learn and develop business and technical knowledge quickly * Motivated team player with demonstrated interpersonal skills * Comfortable working with quick turnaround times and deadlines * Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization * Ability to travel as necessary Cbiz, Inc.
