The Client Service Coordinator (Pathology) provides oversight and direction of the section's daily activities including personnel management in the form of performance documentation, training, competency documentation, and job assignment under the general direction of the section supervisor.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Maintains, documents, and monitors the sections daily activities and procedures. Helps with scheduling and provides coverage as directed by section supervisor.
Represents the best interests of the department, acting in lead capacity in the absence of a supervisor in order to act as a resource for staff in handling and addressing issues, and exercising sound judgment in problem situations. Acts as a problem solver, follow-up liaison for client issues for staff and supervisor.
Maintains broad knowledge and technical expertise of the section. Oversees training and competency of staff. Recognizes, recommends and implements opportunities to improve services.
Communicates with respect and concern to patients, physicians, employees and visitors by responding to meet their needs and expectations in a caring and pleasant manner at all times.
Assembles and provides appropriate audit and performance data as directed by section supervisor.
Documents section and staff workflow and performance.
Consistently applies infection control policies and procedures. Meets population specific competencies. Attends departments education and training in-services.
Performs other duties as assigned.
At least 4 years as a Laboratory Technician in a hospital setting.
Excellent communication & organizational skills.
IATA certification 6.2 Infectious Substances, biological specimens, dry ice, and related materials for shipping and handling, preferred.
2 years college and/or 3 years laboratory experience.
Cerner Millennium experience required.
