Job Purpose / Objective

  • Function as part of department senior management team

  • Manage client account and internal account teams

  • Provide strategic business insights to clients and internal leadership

Roles & Responsabilities

  • Manage overall client book of business

  • Operate as a subject matter expert in connection with the design and administration of employee benefit plans (Defined Benefits, Defined Contribution and/or Health and Welfare)

  • Share knowledge and make sound business decisions

  • Gather, understand and utilize data and key metrics to make recommendations on internal department procedures

  • Recognize business opportunities for our clients and for CBIZ

  • Participate in new business responses and presentations

  • Assume significant client responsibility as client's trusted advisor, is relied upon for: knowledge of industry trends; identification of client issues and conflicts; proactively communicating solution options to client and team

  • Manage staff on timely execution of engagement deliverables, including meeting regulatory timing requirements for each client

  • Complete technical and strategic reviews to ensure quality control standards are met

  • Assume responsibility for new client development in partnership with upper management

  • Lead client meetings and presentations

  • Familiarize clients with all CBIZ services and assist with the development of proposals in connection with individual cross serve goals

  • Assume responsibility for billing and realization on assigned clients; develop overall engagement budget, analyze and explain variances

  • Develop and maintain understanding of client's employee benefit plan goals and objectives

  • Supervise, train and mentor staff; listen and communicate effectively

  • Work to develop responsible, trained staff by conducting performance feedback and evaluations

  • Drive a team environment; demonstrate support of management decisions and build a positive culture

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required or at least 5-8 years of experience in related field

  • At least 3-5 years supervisory experience

  • Credentialed member a plus but not required (ASPPA, SOA, CCA, AAA, CEBS)

  • Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements

  • Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize assignments as necessary

  • Ability to manage staff to ensure appropriate priorities, deliverables and development of skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of an organization, both internally and externally

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other applicable technology

  • Ability to travel based on client and business needs

What You Will Be Doing: Develop and maintain relationship with plan sponsors' executive management and administrative personnel. Play lead role during Annual Plan Review, typically presenting the following the Plan Summary, Legislative Updates, Fund and Investment overview, Communication and Education history and opportunity. Take a leading role at finalist presentations for assigned group clients. Facilitate the plan setup process and ongoing administration of the plan. Provide advice and serve as a professional resource to internal and external clients by communicating pension related technical knowledge efficiently and effectively through correspondence, presentations, and/or consultation with clients. Partner with Marketing Communications to coordinate and customize participant communication to drive desired participant outcomes. Apply modeling and statistics to identify unique solutions to drive positive client outcomes. Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends in the retirement space. Drive client satisfaction with VALIC and provide client references to leverage for business development. Identify add on products and/or services to the client. Anticipate external customer needs and potential problems and fulfill client needs where possible. Ensures that VALIC delivers on our service and performance agreements. Provide thought leadership to clients and the firm. Job Requirements: Qualifications Summary Minimum 10 years' experience in areas of benefits design, compliance and Implementation with appropriate designation (i.e. CEBS, ASPA, etc.)Pension experience preferred Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or other related field. Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of ERISA and succeeding legislation governing qualified pension plan types. Recognized ability to deliver excellent customer service and customer retention Demonstrated ability to continually meet and exceed Plan Sponsor and Participant goals. Ability to manage multiple institutional client relationships independently. Develops institutional client case studies and client references each year. Demonstrate effectiveness in dealing with client organizations, especially top management. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills including the ability to make presentations on complex information. FINRA Series 6 and 63.
