REPORTS TO: School Principal or hiring director


JOB GOAL: To perform the duties and functions of the position so that the effectiveness and efficiency of the office is maintained.


  • Process new students including data entry, obtaining student records and class assignment.

  • All other such job related duties as shall be assigned by the Superintendent of schools.

  • Perform such task as deemed by their administrator or immediate supervisor to be necessary and beneficial to school operations.

  • Participate in cross-training activities as required.

  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.

  • Demonstrate initiative in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement.

  • Demonstrate support for the school district and its goals and priorities.

  • Follow federal and state laws as well as School Board policies, rules and regulations.

  • Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.

  • Serve on school/district committees as required or appropriate.

  • Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.

  • Use effective, positive interpersonal communication skills.

  • Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.

  • Exercise service orientation when working with others.

  • Participate successfully in training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency.

  • Maintain expertise in assigned area to fulfill position goals and objectives.

  • Model and maintain high ethical standards.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.

  • Order and maintain office supplies as needed.

  • Provide typing and data entry service.

  • Answer telephone, record, deliver messages, and transfer calls as required.

  • Serve as a receptionist, greeting the public in a courteous and helpful manner.

  • Complete duplication requests.

  • Organize, file and maintain office records using established guidelines and procedures.

  • Administer medication as directed.

  • Assist with full time equivalent (FTE) surveys.

  • Enter student data by class at the beginning of each year.

  • Provide student information to teachers.

  • Maintain attendance records.

  • Process transfers and withdrawals.

  • Maintain student records including student information folders and cumulative folders.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten, eleven, or twelve months. Salary to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by immediate supervisor.

Associates degree plus related experience, or a minimum of a regular High School diploma plus related experience. 2. Knowledge, experience and documented expertise of computers, computer networks, computer software and operating systems. 3. Experience and demonstrated expertise in the management of educational information, systems, reports, and design. 4. Demonstrates effective communication skills, problem solving capabilities, and ability to work with co-workers and end-users. 5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Administrator of Information Technology or the designated Data Systems Technician PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: * The primary mission of the Technology Specialist is to provide prompt tech related services to all district schools and departments. Technology Specialists must be mobile, flexible in scheduling and capable of performing a variety of skilled tasks. * Communicate and take direction from the Data Systems Technician or consultant. * Responsible for diagnosing problems and taking the appropriate corrective actions to resolve issues, and notify the appropriate departments, schools or individuals. * Provides for the maintenance and preventative maintenance of all hardware and software within the districts network and data systems. Assists in equipment cleaning, * Monitors, evaluates and establishes appropriate security access, user restrictions and hardware/software configurations, providing a safe, secure, effective and efficient data system and network. * Ensures back-up and recovery procedures are executed as scheduled, and assists in monitoring consoles and reports any malfunctions. * Maintains department printers and assists in the printing and distribution of reports. Performs other departmental clerical duties as assigned. * Technology Specialists may be assigned responsibility for specific sub-systems or applications within the school boards network or data systems. * Performs other related work as assigned by the Data Systems Technician, the Administrator of Information Technology, or the Superintendent of Schools.
