Materials Clerk (Offering $500 Sign On Bonus)

Performance Expectations

  • Complete, file, maintain NAFTA certificates.

  • Prepare and Mail/Fed Ex RFQ packages - maintain file.

  • Answer and screen all Materials Manager's calls.

  • Update and maintain QS9000 requirements for Materials Department - customer surveys, subcontractors, packaging requirements, etc.

  • Create and maintain POC graphs and documentation.

  • All filing, typing and faxing for Materials Manager.

  • Enter and maintain department meetings minutes and Materials Manager meeting minutes.

  • Take Purchase Orders to appropriate people for signatures.

  • Document/Form control.

  • Enter and maintain Purchase Order data using the AS400.

  • Update and maintain the purchase order files.


  • Completion of secondary school or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Ability to read lists of products, stock numbers, quantities and prices. Refer to schedules to locate times that trucks will be making deliveries.

  • Ability to interact with materials staff to take on various tasks. Discuss changes in service policy with supervisors. Communicate with co-workers to co-ordinate schedules and tasks.

  • Ability to estimate by sight number of tools needed when it is time to reorder supplies. May use graphs to compare performance data over a period of time.

  • Strong inventory control and stock keeping capabilities. May be short term planning to make sure regular tasks are completed. Plan to ensure that supplies are always on hand.

  • Ability to work independently. Work as a team with other personnel to ensure that support is there to ensure tools and materials are available for production.

  • Ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Send e-mail messages to other departments as needed.

  • Keep up to date on changes in computer technology and with changes in different tools and materials used for production.

This position will be based at our Arden, North Carolina location. Position Overview: The primary function of this role is to lead the Supply Chain Materials Management function for the Avery Creek, NC start up facility. This role directs and controls the flow of materials into the plant, maintaining the balance between lowering inventory turns and avoiding production interruptions. The position manages inventory stocking levels, proactive planning activities, and order and stocking policies. This role also supervises employees who review sales orders, manufacturing schedules and inventory control records to determine quantities of and delivery schedules for raw materials and purchased parts and assemblies required to sustain scheduled production. This position also notifies Purchasing to place orders and follows-up with vendors to ensure that required delivery dates are met. In this function you will: * Develops and controls production schedules and inventory levels based on sales forecasts and other commitments in order to balance production with customer requirements. * Devises methods and policies to ensure the most economical movement of materials in/out of plant to achieve cost-effective logistics practices. Tools include Lean and Kanban. * Directs Materials Planning staff to ensure objectives, schedules and budgets are achieved. * Determines materials requirements needed to meet production schedules, inventory levels, and shipment demands to achieve on-time production and inventory management requirements. * Administers controls of receipt and acknowledgment of materials and supplies and the maintenance of purchasing records to optimize inventory levels. * Coordinates with other departments to ensure smooth flow of materials, and monitors business trends and economic cycles in order to anticipate change in order flow from customers and material availability from suppliers. * Analyzes and evaluates inventory and delivery problems and recommends and/or implements solutions to optimize inventory levels and manufacturing schedule. * Evaluates work performance of the group annually, or as required, in order to facilitate performance management, merit promotions, transfers, dismissals, commendations, etc. * Arranges for the sale of scrap, obsolete, surplus materials and by-products in order to minimize excess material. * Other duties, projects as assigned. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required. * Minimum three (3) years of work experience in manufacturing and/or warehouse environment. * No relocation is offered for this position. * Only candidates who reside within a 50mile radius of the Arden, NC facility will be considered. * Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship Preferred qualifications: * CPIM, CPM certifications preferred. * Supervision / Management experience * One (1) to three (3) years of work experience in supply chain in manufacturing environment.
