Clerk III-Medical Records Compiles Daily Population; prepares packet that is sent to receiving home/facility when a Person is to be transferred or community placed; inputs data into IRIS (PM OFFICE)/CARE systems and reconciles both systems to assure data matches ; upon request, researches records in response to requests for information; enters data into the El Paso State Supported Living Center data base; prints reports from the Distributive Print System and distributes the reports to the appropriate department; generates addressograph cards when Home changes are made; serves as a resource person for other facilities regarding the CARE system; enters guardianship information into the CARE system and the Records Data Base; maintains Master Record on each Individual living at ELPSSLC; and protects confidentiality of Individuals currently living at ELPSSLC and Individuals who have lived at ELPSSLC in the past. Completion of work requires use of established methods and/or techniques and decisions are varied, and based on well-defined guidelines.

The Clerk III works under the immediate supervision of the Records Coordinator. The Clerk III has no one under his or her supervision and has no financial responsibility, but is responsible for taking care of his or her equipment. Essential Job Functions:

Completion of work requires use of established methods and/or techniques and decisions are varied, and based on well-defined guidelines.

The Clerk III works under the immediate supervision of the Records Coordinator. The Clerk III has no one under his or her supervision and has no financial responsibility, but is responsible for taking care of his or her equipment. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.

Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Knowledge Skills Abilities:


Good organizational skills/abilities Experience using and entering data into the CARE and IRIS (PM Office) systems and reconciling those two systems Experience running reports from IRIS and CARE Experience researching requested information quickly and accurately Experience compiling and figuring the Daily Population Report Must have good math skills Experience using computers and experience using Microsoft Outlook and Word Good typing skills Experience with working efficiently, effectively and competently in stressful situations Experience with determining work priorities Ability to pay attention to detail Experience with using a photocopy machine Experience filing records/documents Experience working independently Ability to take instructions and effectively communicate via the telephone and ability to effectively communicate with co-workers via telephone and in person Ability to work congenitally and cooperatively with coworkers Registration or Licensure

None Initial Selection Criteria:

Graduation from an accredited high school or GED, plus some experience in clerical duties. Related work experience may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis with a maximum substitution of two (2) years. Additional Information:

Salary Note: The salary offered will follow HHS starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range.

Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/ Entities. Males between the ages of 18 25 must be registered with the Selective Service. All State Supported Living Center employees are subject to Random drug testing.

Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Note: Military occupation(s) that relate to the initial selection criteria and registration or licensure requirements for this position may include: 42A, YN, 0111, 3A1X1.
