This Casual Clerk II is a work from home position here at Nemours Delaware.

To provide telephone triage nurses clerical support. The telephone triage nurse unit provides primary care patients telephone access to a highly skilled and trained registered nurse who accurately answers their questions and addresses their medical concerns during hours when the primary care offices are closed. The Telephone Triage Clerk II serves as the initial point of contact for incoming calls, facilitates communication between the patient/family and the telephone triage nurses and the primary care provider/office staff and the telephone triage nurses. This position screens calls, transfers messages appropriately and accurately documents and prioritizes incoming calls.

Essential Functions:

  • Answers calls "live" coming into the telephone triage nurse unit from Nemours primary care patients and families.

  • Ascertains reason for call and quickly and appropriately escalates calls from patients requiring immediate attention to nurse.

  • Monitors Audix voice mailbox, retrieves information and enters data into electronic medical record.

  • Ensures documentation of incoming calls is complete and accurate to ensure timely call back by nurses.

  • Performs routine filing and faxing of documents; updates and distributes information on physician on-call schedules.

  • Initiates patient call back to either obtain more demographic information, or to inform caller anticipated wait time of triage nurse callback when call volumes are high.

  • Attends and participates in monthly staff meetings, skills trainings, and required departmental meetings.

Additional Requirements:

High school Diploma
1 year of job related experience.

Schedule: 7am-12pm Saturday and Sunday and holiday rotation.

Serves as a resource for internal and external AHA instructors. Essential Functions: Assists the AHA Training Center Program Coordinator by facilitating AHA course offerings through recruitment and education of instructors, preparation of course materials, course set up and break down, and review of course evaluations. Instruct AHA course offerings. Maintains professional practice knowledge base, including departmental and organizational policies, standards of care. Utilizes skilled oral, written, and electronic communication to communicate effectively and to foster collegial relationships both intra- and interdepartmentally. Models professional behaviors including involvement in professional organizations, engagement in lifelong learning activities and dissemination of information through publications and presentations. Non-Essential Functions: Maintains and utilizes resources and equipment within the Department to assess, support, and advance clinical practice. Integrates ethical principles into all aspects of practice. Demonstrates clinical and cultural competence in the care of patients of all ages; neonates, children, adolescents and adults.
