Entergy's Shared Services organization has a need for a strong accounting clerk to join the Payment Processing team. Payment Processing is primarily responsible for processing utility payments timely and accurately.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform various activities required to process customer payments.
Determine proper posting of unidentified customer payments.
Adjust customer accounts for checks returned from the bank.
Process returns to customers for unidentified payments received.
Prepare adjustments for revenue and forfeiture allowance.
Respond to customer inquiries concerning posting or lack of posting of payments.
Forward correspondence received in Payment Processing to locations throughout the Entergy System.
Communicate with customers on payment discrepancies.
Provide support to Customer Service, Credit and Collections, General Accounting and Cash Management.
Monitor and investigate postings to Dummy Accounts, Inbox and Clarification Worklist.
Provide administrative support.
Participate on special projects and teams as needed.
Maintain departmental records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
This position requires an associate degree or equivalent training, plus two-four years diversified experience in the areas of Operations, Customer Service or Customer Accounting.
The incumbent should have the following skills:
High School diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
Successful results on the CAB/SASS test.
Must be able to work early AM hours.
Able to function as part of a team- Teamplayer.
Self- starter that requires minimal supervision.
Excellent presentation and communicating skills (Both oral and written).
Working knowledge of general accounting and banking procedures.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with an attention to detail.
Good organizational skills.
Proficiency with PC tool kit and software.
Proficiency with Entergy's Customer Information System CCS is preferred.
Willingness to work overtime to support departmental objectives and meet processing deadlines when schedule and equipment problems are encountered.
Note: Incumbent must be able to work early A.M. hours.
