Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Two years of advanced clerical experience are required. Completion of college coursework may substitute for the required work experience on a year-for-year basis.

Recruitment Notes

This is supervisory clerical work or independent clerical of work of comparable responsibility. Employees in this class usually plan, assign, and review the work of a moderate-sized clerical staff engaged in complex clerical activities.

Assigned duties include preparation and quality assurance of Provisional Ballot bags, preparation of delivery and pickup route boxes, processing of table of chair requests, assisting with the preparation of the Logic and Accuracy tests, receiving of deliveries for the warehouse office, and updating the division's purchase request log and purchase request. Responsible for petty cash disbursements and reconciliation, the department's capital inventory, tracking warehouse staff overtime, preparation and coordination of truck dispatch clipboards, and updating and maintaining truck rental spreadsheet and gas cards.

This position may lend itself to the Miami-Dade Elections Telecommuting Policy, which includes flexible work schedules and remote working from home in those areas where such a policy is viable and meets the goals and objectives of the operations

    In the absence of supervisory responsibilities, they do more advanced clerical work requiring the application of more varied and involved procedures and the more frequent use of a higher degree of independent judgment in solving work problems than is found in the Clerk 2 class. Situations concerning important departures from standard practices and procedures are referred to a superior for final decision. New assignments usually consist of statements of desired objectives, and work is usually reviewed only for the achievement of desired results. Performs related work as required.

  • KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS: Considerable knowledge of business, English, spelling, and arithmetic.

    Considerable knowledge of office practices, procedures, and appliances. Some knowledge of the principles of office management and supervision and the ability to apply this knowledge to work problems. Ability to acquire rapidly considerable knowledge of the legal, administrative, and procedural regulations applicable to the organization of assignment.

    Ability to keep complex records and prepare periodic reports from such records. Ability to plan, assign, and coordinate the work of a moderate-sized clerical staff and to instruct and train clerical subordinates in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale. Ability to develop and maintain effective departmental and public relations. Ability to develop, layout, and install clerical procedures and operations from general instructions.
