Job Summary Responsible for providing high quality patient service, administrative support, clinical support, and financial administration for the daily operations of a small medical office practice. Minimum Qualifications Education/Training High school graduation or equivalent; Bachelor#s degree in Nursing or Business/Health administration preferred. # Experience 2 years management experience in a managed care or ambulatory care setting; 1 year experience in a medical record setting. # License/Certification/Registration CPR certification. # Knowledge, Skills # Abilities Effective verbal and written communication skills. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Assure adherence to the myMedStar Management Guidelines including, but not limited to the following: review material in Toolkit with all associates and assure they complete training, provide daily management of patient portal transactions, assure workflow procedures are implemented, offer access to the portal to all appropriate patients, review monthly dashboard performance reports (SLA#s) and intervene as appropriate, assure marketing materials are maintained and displayed with the medical office, escalate any problems/concerns as appropriate, maintain communication with IS patient portal team to provide staff updates as needed and notify the my MedStar team if the primary or back-up contact changes. Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Demonstrates behavior consistent with MedStar Health mission, vision, goals, objectives and patient care philosophy. Implements, monitors, and reinforces MedStar Physician Partners# policies and procedures. Recommends new or modified policies and procedures to reduce cost and/or improve staff performance. Performs other duties as assigned. Prepares and responds to incident reports. Acts as a patient advocate, handling complaints to attain maximum patient satisfaction. Prepares associate work schedules and arranges for adequate coverage to maintain optimum patient service. Assures the proper accounting of hours worked and paid time off. Receives associate notification of call of absence. Coordinates rest/meal periods. With direction from the Practice Administrator, manages associate recruitment and retention, employee relations, performance management, and all other personnel actions for the site. Actively works to create a cohesive and productive work team. Performs administrative and clinical duties under the direct on-site supervision and delegation of a physician in an ambulatory setting.
High school graduation or equivalent; completion of an approved Medical Assistant program.
Externship experience in a medical office or ambulatory health setting; experience working with medical records.
CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) by American Association of Medical Assistants.CPR certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Clinical competency as verified annually. Basic computer skills preferred.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assists physicians with patient preparation for examination and with the examination and education of patients.
Attends all scheduled meetings including, but not limited to regular staff meetings and training classes for safety, infection control, OSHA, CPR and others as required.
Calls in refill prescription medications for patients after physician approval and documentation. Completes requisitions for tests (if applicable).
Cleans, stocks, sterilizes equipment, and prepares exam rooms for patients.
Collects and processes specimens, completes requisitions, and documents log tracking book or other applicable forms.
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.

Documents clinically related activities accurately in the medical record.
Maintains equipment/environment; (i.e., lab controls and refrigerator log).
Maintains log system and performs required patient follow-up for pap smears, Pb levels, HIV, mammograms, and STD's.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Performs selected patient and laboratory testing such as pregnancy testing, urinalysis, microbiology (streptococcal testing and cultures), tuberculosis skin testing, electrocardiography, pulmonary function tests, and vision and hearing testing (dependent upon physician and site requirements). Removes sutures/staples after the provider has examined the patient and written the appropriate order.
Performs venipuncture and finger sticks on adults.
Serves as backup for the Referral Coordinator (if applicable).
Under physician supervision, prepares and administers oral drugs and injections limited to intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular (deltoid, gluteal, vastus lateralis).
