DUTIES: Performs a variety of clerical functions on the Nursing Unit including, but not limited to, meeting, greeting, and orienting patients to floor.

Answering questions from patients and/or family members or redirects to appropriate care team member for response. Transcribes orders; prepares pt. chart on admission; ensures that chart is maintained appropriately; dismantles chart upon discharge; prepares diet & census sheets; rewrites medex' once a week; prepares venipuncture list; assists in coordinating and compiling statistics as needed. Assists the care team with the discharge process.

Answers telephones in a professional manner; distributes mail. Performs other duties as requested. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or GED equivalency required.

Minimum of 1 year previous experience in a doctor's office or health care facility. For E.R., previous experience must be in emergency department of an acute care hospital. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be computer literate and proficient in word processing. Medical terminology preferred.
