Cleaning Room

POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION: Removal of excess metal from plates in preparation for heat treat or machining processes. Separate the gates and risers from refiner plates and perform inspections according to J&L VAC to ensure quality of refiner plates. To be accomplished through cross training in the following areas within the department; Shake Out Operation, Cut Off Operation, Snag Grind Operation, and Finish Grind Operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Follow all safety policies and procedures to produce quality parts for our customers

• Report safety issues when they occur, or unsafe conditions

• Participate in the Behavior-based safety program as required

• Report quality related problems to team members and team lead; and help troubleshoot issue

• Operate shaker and reclaim system

• Hang plates onto carrier system

• Complete routing cards

• Set up and run cup grinder, horizontal disc grinder and die grinder

• Change grinding stones and discs

• Perform cut off and knock off operations

• Check plates for warp utilizing warp gauge

• Pack segments into storage tubes for transfer to heat treat or machining processes

• Prepare packing slips

• Use hand tools as position requires

• Inspect parts at the completion of process

• Perform basic machine maintenance

• Check tools for accuracy

• Operate forklift

• Provide customer and supplier feedback

• Versatility in all skills in the Cleaning Room Department

• Perform general housekeeping duties

• Other duties as assigned

POSITION CHALLENGES:

• Receive direction from Team Lead, Area Manager or Director of Operations

• Interact with Team Members, other Team Leads, Maintenance, Engineering, Master Scheduler and Human Resources.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be trainable, and learn quickly

• Must have a high level of initiative

• Desire to work in a fast-paced team environment

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Ability to push or pull heavy loads with the assistance of a wheeled cart, hoist, or other lift assist equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a foundry environment

• Experience working with grinding, cutoff saw, or welding equipment

• Forklift operation experience

Computer Skills:
Basic Microsoft Office skills required. JD Edwards.

The regular work schedule will consist of eight-hour work days five days per week. Overtime opportunities occur regularly.
