MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of cleaning techniques and materials
Ability to operate a variety of cleaning equipment and machines including stripping machine, power washer, fan, scrubbers, ladders, waxing machines and vacuum cleaners
Available to work a variety of shifts
Ability to handle multiple tasks
Strong work ethic
Ability to work in a team environment
Able to lift objects weighing 50 pounds
Ability to push and pull items weighing up to 200 lbs. on wheels
Excellent physical condition
Self-motivated, self-directed
Able to pass criminal background check
Able to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings and labels

Overview:
Provide a safe clean environment for students, staff and public Assist Housekeeping Supervisor in cleaning, maintaining, and daily operation of school building. NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance
Essential Functions:
Sweep, clean, mop, wash, wax, dust, wipe and vacuum all surfaces to maintain cleanliness throughout building and grounds and supervise other employees doing the same
Secure building each working day as needed
Attend meetings and in-services as required
Maintain a daily work routine as established by Housekeeping Supervisor to adequately service the buildings
Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
Check and prepare controls for water, lights, heat and cooling facilities as assigned
Check building to assure maximum security
Keep work and storage areas neat and orderly
Tour building periodically and remain alert for dangerous, hazardous conditions, or items in need of maintenance Set up equipment and furniture for special events and use of building for school and community functions as needed
Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor
Maintain records as requested by Housekeeping Supervisor
Clean all water coolers
Clean teacher's work area
Clean and sanitize school building restrooms
Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
Clean hallway glass display cases
Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
Ensure safety of students
Conduct periodical inspections of the building
Request needed equipment, materials and supplies
Empty and dean waste receptacles, trash pails and pencil sharpeners
Refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers and bathroom tissue in all school building restrooms
Secure building nightly as needed
Clean and maintain custodial equipment and materials
Repair equipment as needed
Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
Complete paperwork as required by the Housekeeping Supervisor
Promote good safety practices and procedures
Remove cobwebs, clean windows and chalkboards
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Pass on to other employees instructions and requests received from the Housekeeping Supervisor or other administrator
Perform yearly inventory of work area, supplies and equipment
Assist work crews on assigned tasks
Assist in the control of all custodial tools and supplies
Maintain building security system ensures building is secure and locked
Maintain accurate inventory of all custodial equipment, materials and supplies
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to use most common cleaning tools and machines
High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
Must be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the superintendent and /or board of education may find appropriate One to two years related experience

Working knowledge of assigned building and alarm systems
Training in the proper care and storage of chemicals, eg, OSHA/PERRAC training
Knowledge of appropriate safety procedures
