The Classroom Technology Specialist plays an invaluable role in helping to enhance the quality and efficiency of GSUSA's instructor-led training programs. This position improves instructors' abilities to deliver high-quality training by providing instruction and tier-one technical support to instructors on platforms and software applications GSUSA uses to conduct and deliver virtual and in-person instructor-led training. This position also supports the delivery of open-enrollment training sessions.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the platform Host or Producer on select training sessions and provide all-day technical support and coaching to instructors. Assist students as necessary. Answer questions about GSUSA's attendance policy, certificates, class credit, and accessing course materials. Evaluate and support instructors' use of online platforms. (30% of time)

  • Schedule and conduct training or dry run sessions with instructors and assess instructors' skills and ability to teach solo on the virtual platforms. Dry run sessions include ensuring instructors can access the virtual training platform and navigate course materials and videos the instructor will use to facilitate classroom training. Teach instructors to perform essential technical functions within the virtual platform (e.g., initiating breakout rooms, loading course materials through screen share, monitoring the chat for questions, and navigating through instructional materials). (30% of time)

  • Assist in developing and leading microlearning training initiatives to keep instructors, VCA's, and OSD staff skilled in using virtual platforms and Office 365 apps (e.g., Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, One Drive, and Forms) to deliver training. In addition, create job aids for resolving common technical issues with platforms. (20% of time)

  • Consult and design solutions for on-site and virtual training, online training platforms, and support ad-hoc projects, such as: (15% of time)

  • Provide advanced-level support to part-time and seasonal VCAs on technical issues with Zoom, Adobe Connect, or Teams.

  • Work with Business Development representatives to provide platform demonstrations to clients upon request. Create or provide resources to help clients understand the similarities and differences in virtual platforms used by GSUSA.

  • Work with IT and other stakeholders on special projects to troubleshoot and resolve technical or user issues impacting the successful delivery of GSUSA training classes.

Perform other duties as required (5% of time):

  • Assist with training and monitoring seasonal VCA's.

  • Assist with creating and setting up Zoom, Adobe Connect, and Teams virtual classrooms and creating session logins.

  • Assist with setting up software on classroom computers and troubleshooting computer and audio/visual issues for in-person classroom training. Issues may also involve assisting instructors with accessing their Office 365 accounts.

Perform administrative tasks to deliver a portfolio of training sessions each week. Tasks include preparing and emailing class notifications and course materials, confirming instructor assignments and assessing training needs, preparing and reconciling class attendance sheets, and issuing student certificates and class credits.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in the use of video conferencing applications such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Adobe Connect.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint)

  • Broad knowledge of PCs and Mac computers, audio, and video technologies.

  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to monitor and assist multiple training sessions simultaneously.

  • Ability to quickly learn new online learning platforms and technologies.

  • Ability to develop and deliver small group skills-development training sessions.

  • Strong customer service, listening and interpersonal skills with the ability to remain patient.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Position Requirements:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or at least three years of related work experience.

  • Experience supporting instructional delivery in a virtual environment is a plus.

  • Experience using Adobe Connect is a plus.
