Brookfield Public Schools is looking for an Excellent, Part Time (.4) Elementary Bilingual Teacher (Portuguese) for Grades K-5

JOB SUMMARY: Certified Bilingual Teacher to support the social, emotional, linguistic, and academic needs of identified Portuguese-speaking multilingual learners in grades K-5. Bilingual Support is provided to emerging bilingual students who are in their first 30 months of learning English. Candidate should be familiar with Bilingual and ESOL teaching methods, as well as ML identification, parent notification, and annual assessment procedures. The ideal candidate possesses a current CT endorsement 902 (Bilingual Elementary Education). In times of shortage, Elementary Ed-certified candidates with demonstrated Portuguese proficiency and a commitment to becoming certified in Bilingual Elementary Ed, as well as TESOL-certified candidates 111 with demonstrated Portuguese proficiency may also be considered.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Promotes and maintains a positive, culturally responsive learning environment

• Builds relationships and collaborates well with the ESOL team, classroom teachers, interventionists, etc.

• Maintains ongoing communication with parents utilizing multiple communication methods keeping them up-to-date of student progress

• Prepares lesson plans that achieve clear content and language objectives, uses appropriate techniques, identifies observable and measurable success criteria, and serves the needs of all learners in the classroom

• Demonstrates strong content- area standard knowledge, particularly knowledge of the Connecticut English Language Proficiency Standards (CELP)

• Actively seeks out learning opportunities to continue to grow in practice
