Job Description
Title: Teacher, Emotional Support (5th and 6th)
Reports To: Principal
Supervises: Instructional Assistant, Emotional Support
Employee Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Substitute, Salaried, Exempt
Summary
Proactively support students with their social and emotional development, and assist classroom teachers in developing plans/strategies for student success. Creatively design and assign activities that modify general curriculum to appropriately meet students' needs.
Job Responsibilities

Assist classroom teachers with instructional strategies to facilitate inclusion
Determine student progress by collecting and monitoring appropriate data
Coordinate and facilitate parent meetings
Understand and implement empirically supported behavioral interventions
Establish instructional/learning environment for students to reinforce appropriate student behavior
Develop and adapt a variety of instructional activities to meet the students' individual goals/objectives based on the student's IEP
Submit reports in a timely manner to coincide with IEP review meetings
Enforces the CCS Student Code of Conduct, the CCS Uniform Code, and the CCS Computer Usage Code
Promotes good citizenship through actions as a role model
Conducts himself or herself according to professional, ethical principles that reflect favorably upon the individual and the school
Maintains highest level of confidentiality pertaining to school and students' information, progress, and records
Assumes other responsibilities assigned by supervisor and/or school administrator
Abides by the CCS Employee Manual, CCS policies and procedures, and all current PA Public School expectations
Qualifications
A four-year college degree and PA Special Education (PK-8) Teacher Certification. If certification is from a different state, PA certification must be obtained within a determined time frame.
Demonstrated competence teaching, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement
Demonstrated competence as a special education teacher.
Ability to set priorities and adapt to change
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles
Knowledge of basic computer operations
Required Clearances include Criminal Background Clearance (Act 34), Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151), and FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114), all dated within one year of receipt
