Job Description: EdAdvance is preparing to expand our ACCCESS Special Education Staff. We are looking for passionate teachers to provide engaging and differentiated academic lessons for students in grades Kindergarten through 6, with cognitive, developmental and/or learning challenges and behavioral needs. Special Education Teachers are a vital component to the multi-disciplinary team at ACCESS.
Major Responsibilities:
Prepare for and participate in PPTs for students
Utilize assessment data to plan a sequence and scope of teaching instruction appropriate for each student
Provide academic instruction and support for students who are enrolled in an outplacement educational program
Utilize a variety of instructinal methodolgies to provide the most effective and motivational educational experience for students
Other duties as may be assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough understanding of Special Education procedures and regulations
At least 3 years of recent teaching experience at the primary level, is preferred
Experience in using CT-SEDS
Experience in writing IEP goals, completing achievement evaluations and interpreting the results to propose services and instructional needs
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrate flexibility in response to unpredictability of student academic and behavioral needs
Qualifications/Requirements:
Active Connecticut Certification in Special Education (Endorsement #: 065 or 165 or 265)
Master's Degree in Special Education
Desire to work with students who struggle with learning challenges and behavioral difficulties
Physical Requirements:
Ability to withstand the physical demands of frequent standing, bending and kneeling
Must be able to physically participate in student restraint and/or seclusion
Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this job
