Special Education Teacher (Life Skills) - Middle School
Position Start Date: 2024-2025 School Year

Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in a life skills program setting. You will create a safe and nurturing learning environment where students can develop essential skills for independent living, social interaction, and career readiness.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with PPT team.
Deliver engaging and differentiated instruction in both a self-contained and inclusion-based classroom setting. Design and implement lessons focused on 16 core transition standards.
Collaborate with general education teachers to facilitate inclusive learning opportunities for students with disabilities.
Use data to assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
Conduct reevaluations to determine continued eligibility and inform the IEP.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress.
Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders.
Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and individual strengths.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field.
CT special education teaching license (165).
Experience working with middle school students with disabilities (Preferred).
Strong understanding of modification and accommodations and best practices in supporting students with severe to profound disabilities.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Culturally responsive teaching practices.
Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Salary Range: $49,074 to $105,646 (DOE) - Competitive Benefits
