Position: Supervisor of Student Services
Location: Harwinton Consolidated School and Lake Garda Elementary School
Reports to: Director of Student Services
Starting Date: July 1, 2024
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Student Services, this individual provides supervision and management for student services programming in Regional School District 10. This position will specifically support students in Birth to 3 transition, PreK, and Grades K-4. Candidates with a robust background in special education administration, a deep commitment to the development and success of students with diverse needs, and a proven track record in enhancing student services are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate PPT and 504 meetings at both district elementary schools.
Oversee the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Supervise and provide leadership to staff within the Special Education and Related Services departments.
Foster strong partnerships with parents and families to support student success.
Provide leadership and support to specialized programs within the district.
Ensure compliance with all federal and state mandates, including fulfilling our responsibilities under Child Find, the provision of a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), and adherence to the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) guidelines.
Supervise and evaluate special education teachers, related service providers, and paraeducators.
Assists in the annual budget process, entitlement grant development, and local, state, and federal reports.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience in a combination of the following areas:
Candidates must possess or be eligible for Connecticut Administrative Certification (092) and hold Connecticut Certification in Comprehensive Special Education or a Related Services Endorsement
Five (5) years' work experience in a certified special education or related services position
Supervisory experience in special education and related programming preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state special education laws, policies, and procedures
Experience using CT-SEDS
Ability to work collaboratively with building administrators and instructional supervisors to ensure best practices are being implemented to meet the needs of each student
Experience with the development of and support within self-contained programs
Knowledge of the Connecticut Smarter Balanced assessments, and CT- Alternate Assessments in literacy, numeracy, and science
