POSITION: Special Education Teacher for ABA Program
LOCATION OF ASSIGNMENT: Memorial Elementary School
ANTICIPATED STARTING DATE: August 20, 2024
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Duties include the following: Developing and delivering instructions to students who require specialized teaching using the methodologies and principles of applied behavior analysis, preparing, planning, and implementing students' programs, Assist in developing and implementing FBAs and Behavior Plans, Progress monitoring student growth and collaborating with general education team members as well as BCBAs, conducting evaluations to determine student need and special education eligibility, presenting student progress and evaluation results at PPTs, writing and monitoring individual education goals and objectives, overseeing the work of Intervention Specialists to ensure that students are receiving appropriate academic, social and behavioral instruction and interventions, establish and maintain frequent communication with parents of students on caseload.
Starting salary: $51,868-$108,178 depending on experience and as determined by the superintendent of schools in accordance with the East Hampton Education Association Agreement (https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/1568257/EHEA_Agreement_2022-2025_w.MOU.pdf)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Connecticut Certification Comprehensive Special Education, Pre-K-12 (65) or Certification Comprehensive Special Education Grades K-12 (165) or Comprehensive Special Education, 1-12 (265)
Knowledge and experience working with and programming for students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Ability to implement programs to reduce stereotypic, disruptive, and destructive behavior based on systematic analysis of the variables that cause and maintain the behavior and matching treatment to the determined function(s) of the behavior.
Knowledge of PECS and ABA standards
Ability to support students with self-care/toilet routines
Ability to work effectively as part of a clinical team
Experience and knowledge regarding differentiated instruction and inclusive educational practices
Knowledge of IDEA and the PPT process
