Classroom Teacher / Music

Job Description:

Ledyard Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Instrumental and Music Teacher beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. This is to fill a vacancy. This role is a combination of general music and instrumental instruction. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the School Administrators to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:

• Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals

• Ability to promote positive self-concept in each student; provide encouragement to each student to develop his or her full potential

• Demonstrated excellence in teaching the grade level and subject

• Enthusiasm for teaching and learning

• Promotes a positive learning environment responsive to and respectful of the needs of students

• Understand social and emotional adjustments of students

• Successful elementary teaching experience preferred

• Ability to work with a diverse student population

Responsibilities:

• Work in the interest of the students' physical and emotional welfare and to embrace a growth mindset

• Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences in the area of general music and instrumental

• Understand and implement general music theories and practices, including instrumental music, basic note reading, and basic composition

• Accept and incorporate suggestions for classroom improvement

• Keep inventory of materials, equipment and supplies

• Maintain contact with parents, school personnel as needed to evaluate students' academic and social growth

• Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of people, including students, their parents and staff

• Continues to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research

Additional Duties:

• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Required:

• Bachelors degree
• CT teaching certification (049)

Pay and Benefits:

• Per the Ledyard Education Association agreement
